The review embargo has been lifted hours ago and we've got reviews coming on our way. Here's a few of them:

Nintendo Everything ? ?Thumbs Up?
IGN ? N/A
GamesBeat ? 83 / 100
GameTrailers ? 8.4 / 10
Nintendo Life ? N/A
Destructoid ? 8.5 / 10
Polygon ? 8.5 / 10
GamesRadar ? 3.5 / 5
USgamer ? 4 / 5
GameXplain ? Loved it!
Metacritic 81/100 as of May 27th 2015 at 6:45 PM EDT

Since Splatoon is a game that challenges the traditional form of review, I highly recommend reading the reviews to find out why they noted, liked and disliked and see if these affect you. For example, the oft-cited lack of voice chat is justified for me, because the game is so fast-paced that communicating a proper strategy is unfeasible.

I honestly didn't know there was a review embargo on it. Most sources have still been giving their hands on opinion on it for weeks.

The scores are around what I thought/hoped they would be though, which is good. It only makes me question why there was an embargo in the first place. They're only usually done with shifty developers trying to hide something.

I think most of the things they all mention are things that are easily fixable with a patch, though they're mostly just minor inconveniences I can live with otherwise. Voice chat I really don't care about, I'll just use Skype or something should I ever need it since I would never want to talk with randomers I find in a lobby anyway.
I'm actually surprised to see one of the reviews said that the single player mode is the best part of the game. That was unexpected.
