Yes I do know about the smash splat bundle. I was planning on getting it yesterday but after waiting 45 minutes in line at Bestbuy they sold out and there were only 2 more people infront of me /:. They did sell me the mario kart 8 bundle for the price of that bundle tho so that's fine.

Anyways I was wondering which one I should get first. I do have the 3DS version but no one on the forums plays it anymore and my circle pad is ****ed up because of that game. I've also been interested in splatoon for awhile and this was one of the reasons I even bought a wii u (smash and hyrule warriors are other reasons). I'll probably get the other for Chistmas tho.

If you want to add me just send me a request :D don't play any other game except for mk8 tho

I think more people on the forums are playing Splatoon over Smash at the moment, but personally I think Smash is the better game. I dumped Splatoon awhile ago and haven't played it again since the first Splatfest. I really should pick it up again with all the fresh content out.

Splatoon! Especially if you can get the others for Christmas. They're still releasing updates for free regularly so it gives you more time to familiarize yourself with them as they come out.~

I would go with Splatoon. The online multiplayer is a lot more fun and doesn't get as boring as quickly. The single player is fun but you're probably not going to spend much time with it.

Smash is fine but I lost interest not long after unlocking all the characters. I pretty much only pick it up now to play with friends, which isn't that much really.
The online is 'meh'. You pretty much only see the same handful of characters being used, which doesn't help with the repetitiveness of it.

I love Smash! And Splatoon, but I haven't played Splatoon at ALL. I don't even have the game! ^^;;;
I love both equally but it's like... Smaaaaaaash? Splatooooooooon? Both are calling my name and I haven't even played one of these games yet!
I'm gonna have to go with Smash on this one-- sorry Splatoon ;_____;

Splatoon is way better. Customization of literally everything and no two matches are ever the same. With Smash there's no goals, increasing stats, leveling up, or ranks. After you unlock all the characters you don't have anything to do.

Plus Splatoon has FREE DLC that comes out every week. How long have we waited for a new Smash character? Months? Oh, you have to pay for it too?

Literally this. Smash was fun but I got so bored of it I ended up selling it. It's just like MK8 when everyone finds the "perfect setup" and then you see nothing but that online. Splatoon is the same in terms of weapons, but then it all comes down to skill and how good of a player you are.

I have to disagree with this. Everyone plays games their own way. I enjoy playing Smash for the competitive factor. Unlocking characters, stages, and such is nice, but I don't make it my key point as to why I play the game. As for MK8, there really is no perfect setup. No matter how good you are you still can't avoid the RNG with items. It's been awhile since I've played Splatoon, but one reason I stopped playing it is because everyone kept using the Aerospray which at the time was clearly the best gun. If you used it people criticized you and if you didn't it was difficult getting as good of a score as with the Aerospray. I'm sure the game is different now, but with such a variety of guns there's always a risk of a broken gun being available for players.

IMO I think Splatoon is much better, I get bored of smash bros really fast and don't really have anyone to play it with, and I don't like the smash bros wi-fi, it lags a lot

You're going to see that kind of thing across all online games. It's all about using "top tier" weapons/vehicles/characters so you can be the best. In MK8 it was a heavy character with the pipe frame and slick wheels. In Smash it's Sheik/other top tier character. In Splatoon it used to be rollers/Aerosprays, but now things have changed and weapons are all over the place.

What I love about Splatoon is weapons are only as good as you make them. Not everyone can play chargers or rollers, but those that can are really good with them. Same goes for shooters and blasters. Once you get good with a weapon, you can take on any opponent. There's no need to rely on button mashing or item luck. And while Smash may be similar, Splatoon has a first-person feel where you're not condemned to a flat stage, you can choose any route you wish and take on any opponents who are in your way. You can also retreat if the going gets rough, which is highly frowned upon in Smash.

Overall I feel Splatoon relies on your skills as a player while Smash simply relies on button combos and similar things to bring down an opponent.

I'm here to say that you're wrong. there is no perfect setup in smash lmao, its one of the few games that doesnt have one. splatoon definitely has perfect setups, however. but that doesnt make it a bad game. Skill & how good you are? same for smash, I'm not sure where you got the idea where smash doesnt require skill...i mean that is why they have all those guides and strategies (which are OPTIONAL btw)

I literally never see Sheiks or Rosalinas online at all, and theyre "top tier"
Besides if i recall correctly you never play online so how would u know ?? just cuz zack is a TIER HO doesnt mean the rest of us are
Not everyone can win with a character if they're "OP" or whatever, so that's debunked.

In smash you can use any route you want
some of us like to meteor smash, some of us like grab kills, and some asshats like to spam.

Button bashing? i almost never lose in smash and i cant even button mash myself.
Item luck? go into for glory or turn items off

whether a game has a first person feel or not doesnt mean its bad, thats just the type of game it is. so lets ignore that

again, as for button combos, coming from someone who absolutely hates strategy/guides and will never follow any of it, that isnt true.

@the dlc thing - so? its like $5 and there are already a fckton of characters to use. that shouldnt even matter

also i would say i have an unbiased viewpoint because in both games i tend to be above average and win more than i lose, if that matters

The same goes with Smash characters though. The character is only as good as the person who uses them. I play as characters considered low tier such as Marth, Robin, Zelda, Lucina, and Palutena and do good with them online. I still don't believe there's a best setup in MK8. Every stage is different and one kart isn't going to be fit to be the best at all of them. It really has been a long time since I've played Splatoon, but I really felt I spent more time covering the map with ink than I did with actual PvP encounters. Splatoon does involve skill, but without a good team the skill of one player alone won't guarantee a victory. That's why I was never a fan of the ranked matches because I didn't get very many good teams nor do I have enough Splatoon buddies to form my own. I do disagree about the button mashing and combos though. I never repeat the same repetitive combos when playing online. I mix it up every match with different playstyles. I will give Splatoon another try sometime soon.
