Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

but there's really no point coz there's nothing to work towards, it's basically like i've reached the end, and I don't like that. If they removed the level cap and let you keep going after level 20 then I'd probably be enjoying this game, but I just can't because I can't enjoy a game when there's nothing to work towards.

Have you bought all the clothes?
Have you unlocked all slots on all clothing
Have you got all the side abilities you want by rerolling?
Have ya mastered every weapon?

Them P's to get the perfect gear. Always... It's one of the reasons I was looking forward to Splatfest, easier re-rolls than 30K per new slot, and 30K per re-roll once slots have been maxed out. Oh well!

I'm also looking forward to whenever they release new gear, since they said that was also going to be a thing.

How much P do you have?

Anyone wanna play? I just joined Hyogo's room!

No because I don't care for any of that, nor do I have any interest in doing so, because the cap at level 20 basically says to me "you can do this but you're not going to get anywhere".

Idk I feel it's just another of their stuff ups, something so simple but they just didn't do it.

Introduce like 100+k to change main ability. PLEASE. I want to wear certain clothes but I can't because the main abilities aren't what I need. :/

Imo if they had this it would allow everyone to wear what they want rather than everyone wearing the Jungle Hat, Anchor Tee, and Crazy Arrows because of the abilities.

add slots to gear you like that have the same main abilities/you like

if anything, it would only by 60k at the highest

Yeah but I'm talking like I want to wear the Squid-Stitch Cap but I need an Ink Saver Main on my hat, ect. I've got a combo that works and looks fairly decent but y'know, it'd be nice not to be too concerned about main abilities since I'd be able to change 'em.

It'd even satisfy me if they added some sort of stats I could see. I just would like to feel I'm gaining something from the battles. I mean I'm earning coins to re-roll my stuff, but that's about it. I still enjoy the game, but tiny things like that can make a big difference. To me at least.

I wonder if there will be some kind of stat board in the hub where you can check all kinds of records like kills, being killed, fastest game, ect. I remember they didn't have a stat page for MK8 at release then later added it through an update. It'd be cool to look at, maybe you could even check the records of your friends.

Do you dislike rank on splatoon? I mean I think it's fun earning a grade and it's more complicated, but if you're A+ already then grats to you bc I keep falling -10 points shy from A- u.u

Regardless though, Splatoon has the same concept as MK8 online, LoL, Dota, CoD, etc. People don't stop playing bc they reached the max level. They play for competitive reasons/playing online with others because it's fun.

But yea I know it'd be nice if we had the full content but still. I'm guilty of getting addicted to games like this even if I don't get anything else out of it anymore~

Why... why are the stages the same for both modes?

Also someone pointed out Callie + Marie = Calimari I thought that was pretty funny lol

man am I being really turned off by the new level right now, and because it only came yesterday it has to be forced in to our throats til it gets old, it is not even a new level because it's a part of a level from the single player mode, and that part isn't even fun. guess it'll take time for me to finally swallow it :/

I can't really comment on anything you mentioned other than Mario Kart (since it's all I played). I still play it with friends occasionally but I've pretty much just stopped playing it online because there's just nothing to really work towards. Even if I enjoy a game I'll still tire of it if I don't have that 'carrot on a stick. This can range from level, rank, improving K/D and W/L ratios. Basically the things that give me evidence that I am making progress. Just driving around or shooting people with none of that gets old real fast for me, which is a shame since it's such an easy thing to solve by raising the level cap, increasing the amount of EXP needed to level up (so it doesn't take 2 friggin' days), a prestige or player stats screen where I can view my overall stats for certain things so I can try to increase them.

I mean, I'm still enjoying Splatoon at the moment because they're still releasing/unlocking content, I still haven't reached A+ and I'm still trying to get the stats I want on my gear (since Spyke has decided I'm not allowed to have good stats no matter how much money I throw at him). Not to mention since all my money is going on remodeling my gear, I've not had enough money to buy all the clothing available. I still have much left to do.
There's gonna come a time though where I'm just running around with nothing left to work for and all I'm really doing is pointlessly shooting things without a goal. It won't even matter if I win or lose matches at that point, so why bother?

Compare that to something like World of Warcraft on the other hand (stay with me, I'm going somewhere with this). You had 11 classes to level up to 90 (the cap when I last played) with 13 race's, than you had item level, profession levels, arena levels, ranked levels, achievement points, pet ranks, World control etc. etc.
I'm not trying to directly compare Splatoon to Warcraft, I'm not an idiot. What I am saying is that I played Warcraft for like 6/7 years without a break in subscription and 90% of my time was spent leveling up new characters and doing ranked PvP, so it shows how something as simple as adding a number to work towards can keep a player interested.

Oh I totally agree with you on all your points.

For LoL, you pretty much play on one map over and over 5v5. Yea there's a huge champ pool but you really only end up playing a few you personally enjoy-. But it's one of the most populated games and some people enjoy PVP a lot. On MMOrpgs (yea I played a ton of those) people get to end game gear and go straight to PvP. And STAY for the pvp. Half the time you don't gain anything from it (Except maybe pvp gear), but they still play.

I think MK8 is the least addicting of them all. But Super smash brothers, there's more people than you can imagine that play it for competitive reasons basically everyday yet there's no leveling or reward. Some people's taste I guess. CoD is huge, I have friends and family that play this game like no tomorrow. They've beaten story mode/unlocked all weapons, but continue playing online pvp for fun/competitive reasons.

When I got Splatoon I knew it was majority PVP meaning it'll be repetitive, which I don't mind bc I like those games. So I don't get entirely what people expected.. I keep getting the vibe from people that they EXPECTED much more from the game than just that. But I didn't see anything else advertised.

But I'm not going to bash those that are already tired of Splatoon, since I have gotten tired of some pvp games (even though a lot kept my interest and I never get tired of those games THIS quick) Incentives keep other people playing that don't care about just pvping every once in a while~ Can't say I'm addicted to it but I'm not bored of it, most different game nintendo has ever made, that's for sure. So props to them~ Playing at least 2 games of ranked and then just normals is definitely keeping me MORE interested, which is why I asked Jake.

TLDR; I'm just saying the game is mostly targeted towards those groups that will play it regardless of rewards/levels. (because they enjoy pvp)

I tried Ranked again. Not much has changes really.
-I got 19 kills in 1 round?!?! I know it's ranked, but that still feels like a lot. O_O
-Why is the Nozzlenoze popular there? It's a tie for worst weapon with the Rapid Blaster Deco. :/
-There was 1 guy on my team who I knew was purposely just trolling and trying to make us lose. He spent the first 2 or so minutes just inking our base. (It was Kelp Dome btw.) After that, he went off and started painting the other corners of the map that you should NEVER BE in a ranked match??? It literally has no purpose. He also stood still a lot. Probably a third of the game he was standing still. He never disconnected either, he was trying to make us lose. :/

Ranked has been annoying me lately. I've never actually come across players like this, it's more like the other team takes control, and NO ONE DOES ANYTHING EXCEPT ME. Like uh hello?? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! Usually I'm the one running everything so if I die one of two things happen: 1) if we're winning, the other team suddenly invades and locks us out or 2) no one does anything. I get so mad like omg stop shooting at that person over there and stop the counter from going down!!

Things like this usually make me just throw carefully put the gampad down and stand at the spawn point until it's over. I never have to wait more than five seconds.

I'm also avoiding Bluefin Depot in ranked at all costs. That map is just so unbalanced.

Oh yeah of course. One of my friends jokingly told me to not rely on my teammates, but when I started doing that, I started winning a LOT more. So yeah, try to do everything by yourself since it just works better and most people are idiots online. : )
