Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

Interesting. Also yeah I like how the more you increase in rank the less points you get, but the penalty for losing stays the same. I'm guessing A rank is like +1 for winning. How are you supposed to keep your rank up? Seems unfair to me. Also goes to show I will never be A rank lol

The "winning" team is the one who's raw score has less time, not including the penalties. So if I have a score of 50 (+25) and the other team has a score of 60 (+8), then I would win because my base score is lower.

Since the whole point of the penalties is to give the losing team a chance to catch up, it makes sense that they aren't the determining score, because if they manage to capture the zone at the last second it would add a huge penalty for he other team which would cause the losing team to win even though they barely held it.

I've lost 8 or 12 points at times, but that was in the B rank, C was a consistent 10 points for losing.

I think I've lost 10 every time barring once. I've gained 8, 10 and 12 in B- though too. So I feel like I will now forever sit in B-.

The point system makes no sense though. I've gotten a ton of kills and 8 points and 1 kill, several deaths and 10 points.

Maintenance will go for an hour and 10 minutes apparently, to plug some exploit?
Also this is the sort of thing I'd like to hear from Callie and Marie, not what stages you will see on the menu anyway.

I assume you would have to win 10 battles for every 1 you lose at A+ rank.

I've only gotten to B- so far (and then I went to do the girl amiibo stuff for a bit). You get 10 for winning at B-, so you have to win at least twice as many as you lose if you wanna rank up.

Urge they went out when I only needed 586 more points for Level 20. :L

But can someone explain to me the number that appears below the ink percentage bar when Judd is judging the percent of ink your team covered? It's a little number and it has a P, but the value is always different from my score P so I'm not sure what it does.

If the room is full and a 9th person is already waiting I think it prevents anyone else trying to connect. :C there's room now?

I think it's just my internet. there's been a lot of storms here this week and all week our connection has been garbage whenever my roommate or I try to do anything online...

I thought it was a team average but it I checked before and it's not. So I'm guessing it's a number related to ho much of the stage is covered at the end of the match, seeing as the higher number is always the winning side and it's roughly proportionate to the percentage.

Ahwell, Atleast you're not missing anything now the servers are down. :P

Judge Judd lol

That's your team's total score for that round. It's different from yours because you can re-ink the same surfaces again and get more points but team points only last as long as you hold that area (if that makes sense?).
Also P stands for points. Took me a while to figure that out. Thought it was some kind of painting term like ounces or whatever.

Is that not the total coverage your team actually got on the map?

Like obviously, your personal P at the end is the total distance you have covered overall including areas you've painted multiple times. So it could just be your team held x area of the map at the end, with X=P.

I feel that doesn't explain what I actually mean xD

There's now a software update if you restart Splatoon. - how strange we need a software update for this and not to open ranked/splatzones/port Mackerel. :P

Ah that makes sense!

Anyway since the server's down I went around exploring.

Gather round kiddies cause it's conspiracy time!

When you walk to Spyke, you see him surrounded by a bunch of Super Sea Snails. If you look to the right two of the super sea snails can be seen shaking constantly, almost as...they're scared of something. If you look to the left, you'll see another pile of super sea snails, but these are different. These are just the shells, no actual sea snail to be found within. And finally, if you look at his leg, you'll see a screw driver. Spyke also is depicted as some kind of underground criminal person you should stay away from. Scared snails, missing snails, screw drivers, and crime. Coincidence? I have no idea but if urchins somehow eat snails that's a neat albeit cruel-ish touch.

I noticed it. What is the update for?

You didn't need an update for those because they are basically just on-disk DLC.

Don't be silly, he gets the shells, and when homeless snails come to him (He is world renowned for this) he uses the screwdriver to insert them in their new homes. It's a bit uncomfortable at first and they have to wiggle around a bit. He likes to keep them near for a day to be sure it's the right shell for them and then they get set free. onto the roads and smushed.

I assume they were already on the disc, they just weren't active online. At least it's not like 2012 Capcom who would actually charge you for that stuff.

The 3DS also just got an update.

MOAR STUHBILITEE!!! YEAHYYY!!!

Just as I thought the 3DS couldn't get any more stable :O

I swear, my 3DS is so stable at this point that if I pushed it, I would fall over.

I know, I just hate knowing I paid for a game, and have the coding for it already on the disc, and yet I'm not allowed to play it until some arbitrary time.

the way nintendo is handling it tho is great compared to other games with on disk DLC where you actually have to pay for it.. so i think the hour based system is cool and innovative and mostly interactive with the community

o and if u good join my clan btw gang green gang wasup
