Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

The most satisfying thing is following someone and going over everything they just coloured without them realising...

I did some epic m1nd g@mes with the splat charger

I was being counter-sniped on saltspray rig

So I ran around behind the enemy sniper and tried to hit them from below, and they turned their attention to dodging and trying to hit me while the rest of my team took the entire area near the top and won

I probably won't be getting the game for a loooooooong time, but if I do I think I'll be using chargers mostly

It's a fun weapon

Correct me if I am wrong, but that does that make whoever is hiding practically invisible?

When the full game is released there are a few pieces of gear that give you a ninja power bonus that lets you stay invisible even when you're moving under the ink. But to counter that there are some pieces of equipment you can get that act like a radar and show where the enemies are, even hidden ones.

Gotta give it to Nintendo for this game, they really put a lot of thought into it.

I got to play Splatoon this afternoon! It was incredibly fun, although I did die a lot lol I like the splattershot and the roller the best, the other two I'm not too big on. When running around with my team mates, I noticed a lot of them didn't swim in their ink color to get to other places faster nor did many of them (until my last game) use the gamepad to jump to their team mates after they died. Be sure you guys are doing those things and you'll stomp the other team!

I think I've already improved a lot on the Splatter Jr.'s metagame. I was camping way too often than I should on the first test session, then during the final session, I now consistently place first on my team just because I play even more aggressively with that weapon. I sometimes even gain over 1000p at times.

The thing with the rollers at first is that they're pretty much overpowered due on how fast they take control of areas and can manage to one-hit kill anyone when they come into contact. Because they can pose a huge threat, I usually would try to defeat them whenever I come across of them. That's where I realized that they are more vulnerable than I initially thought. The range of roller isn't quite that good for self-defense unless they're actually sneaking on me, and their special/sub weapon can be easily predictable. I seem to decimate roller users very easily whenever I catch them off-guard.

On the use of Splatter Jr., offense is basically your defense. It has a decent range, faster rate of fire than the original Splatter, and apparently have a better ink capacity. Ironically, I found this weapon to be a pretty good close ranged weapon and can even help you defend against Chargers and Rollers. Unfortunately, I don't find the sub weapon to be quite useful for defeating the other Inklings, as it deplete a full ink reserve. However, it can be effective if you just use it to attempt stressing your opponents out even further. Also, it can one-hit kill anyone who's imprudent enough to come across the grenade. And its special move gives you a 10 seconds shield that can be passed on your teammates if they're close enough to you. Useful if your opponents are too close to you or if you want to get away from the massive chaos just to reach another place that is screaming for more ink.

I haven't been on in forever but I just have to ooze about how much I love Splatoon. I was able to play 2 of 3 demo periods and holy crap that was so much fun. I loved the Splattershot way more than I thought I would and used it for the majority of my gameplay. Connection was extremely smooth and my favorite game had to be my last one where the opposing team was winning by a lot and as I super-jumped in my teammate got splatted by I splatted 3 of the opposing team and we won it in the last 15 seconds. I already have this game pre-loaded on my Wii U I could not be more ecstatic.

I don't know. 3 all in one day seems too weird, but at the same time we knew this was going to happen a while back didn't we? They said there would be a global testfire for a day like last month or something.

I wish I could enjoy this game but my internet sucks and offline play is limited (Joint blame between my ISP and Nintendo s: )

Happy to see everyone enjoy it though, core gameplay looks fun as hell. I won't be getting this game, though ):
