Finally completed my bug index today - really pleased until I went to the museum and realised I hadn't donated a spider to the museum when I caught it. Thankfully it's at least available to catch now - do I have to actually shake the fruit trees, or can I just whack them with my net and leave the fruit on them, to get the spider out? Please and thanks :)

Awesome, cheers! So as long as it makes the tree shake, they're just as likely to appear even if the fruit stays on the tree?

Caught one and didn't even see it hanging from the tree - just whacked the tree with the net and it said I'd caught it! Is this a new feature or has NL always been like this when you hit the tree with the net instead of shaking it?

Good question. I always caught spiders and bagworms by shaking so I don't know how old the trick you used is

I think it came with the WA update but correct me if I'm wrong..?

At least the hold tools and shaking came with it.

That's always been in the game but I don't think it's widely known.I didn't hear about it until I'd already been playing ACNL for a couple of years.

Ahh that makes sense! Only just started playing WA update after years of not playing - also I thought it seemed a bit off, being able to shake trees carrying my net - good to know that's new too! Are there any other small features like this that changed (as opposed to the big more noteable ones)?
