Okay, so that's a lie. I'm not speechless. I just can't choose what words I want to say I'm so irritated. I had Diana and I loved her very much but I saw a lot of people wanted her so I decided to give her away to let somebody get their dreamie. Somebody asked if they could have her and I agreed. Now... In the same day they're selling her for ten million bells. I did this to be nice and that's what happened.

I feel bad because I've never complained like this but I wanted to know... Am I overreacting?

I'm fine now. Thank you everyone for your support!

While it is unfortunate and a bit disrespectful to do something like that, keep it mind that once you trade over a villager it's the other person's to do whatever they please, unfortunately. It's entirely up to them at that point what happens to the villager. I suppose for future reference, just make sure that the person you're giving villagers to really wants it. Check signatures for dreamie proof, and even go through a few past posts to see if they've been looking for that villager in the past. Sorry that happened, but just be more cautious of resellers next time :)

I don't think you're overreacting at all. That person lied to you, and you must feel pretty bad about having given her away to someone who just wanted to make a profit out of her. This kind of things tend to happen in videogame communities, sadly...

Well, I would suggest giving anything you heart just to those who you know well enough. People have ripped me off when I tried to be nice and that's a lesson I've learned...
But - yeah, this sucks :( I feel for you!

I don't think you're overreacting. I think you were being nice and someone took advantage. Whenever someone gives away a villager that many want, they ask for dreamie proof. Maybe this is a lesson learned to do that next time. I'm sorry this happened to you though.

Oh no. That really sucks. :(

I'm sure you can give them a bad wifi rating because they went and did that to you.

That's not really grounds for giving them a bad rating. AkaneDeath did a giveaway for a villager. Maybe the person wasn't all that honest about their true intentions with the villager, but once AkaneDeath traded the villager away it's no longer his/hers to worry about. Don't get me wrong, I don't like situations like this either and I wish Diana would have gone to someone who really wanted her (I really hate resellers) , but I really don't think its worthy of a bad rating. Just my opinion on the subject c:

I agree with this. I wasn't going to give them a negative rating but I'm glad to hear I'm not overreacting when I thought it was a bit rude. You're right, though. Once it's theirs they can do what they please... I was just curious. I feel much better now. There's no sense in letting it ruin my day.

Thank you everybody!

I hate those people because they just make these forums a little dirtier...

Anyway don't let them to get you down, there's still tons of good people :)

This just happened to me: Tia is leaving my town in a few days, so I decided to try to trade her for another villager I want. At first I didn't find anyone, so some people (who has Tia as a dreamie) started bidding for her.

Today I woke up and found a thread from a guy selling/trading a villager I am looking for, and found that one of the Tia bidders from my thread just answered on this guy's thread linking my original post to him, so we could make a deal.

He said "but aren't you looking for Tia"?, then she answered "yes, but I'm just glad if you can make a deal both of you". So we finally decided to give Tia to her and I'll be getting the villager from him.

So yep, there's still nice people arround here :)

Unfortunately there's some people like the one you find out, but I thin kthey're a minority.

That happened to me and it was Diana too!

Someone begged me for her saying Diane was his dreamie however; that same day he put her up for sale. Well, I openly confronted him here in the forum and he said it was a TTing accident. Well I said, since she was given free it would be ?nice? if he also gave her away free. There were several people who had witnessed the thread in which I had posted and they were angered by this that the person was shamed into giving her away rather than selling.

You probably should have specified in your post that you intended to give it to someone who had her as a dreamie, not just say "free to anyone". In the future you should specify that and people probably won't think it's okay to resell them.

While I can see why you might be upset, at the end of the day it's just a piece of data.

I don't think you're overreacting at all. That person lied to you

They never said anything about lying.

I'm very sorry. :/ Perhaps a note on their wifi rating so others can be aware and not be taken advantage of?

They didn't do anything wrong. They asked and received the villager. They can do whatever they want with it.

So everyone stuck their nose in where it didn't belong and bullied them into doing what they wanted? Yep, clearly the right thing to do.

Yes they lied to you, but once it's theirs they can do whatever they want to.

What is a "dreamie proof"?

One's evidence of the fact that they really want a villager/dreamie. An example of dreamie proof would be like requesting said dreamie in their signature or past examples of them wanting that dreamie.

At the end of the day, every videogame ever is just a piece of data. Nobody thinks like that around here, buddy. This is a forum dedicated to pieces of data.

Don't call me buddy. I don't need that condescending talk. They gave away someone, therefore it is no longer their concern what happens. Everyone is allowed to do what they want with their game.

I mean this would be true if this wasn't sort of assumed as a community where people should care about each other since they're all here to enjoy the same game collectively, not beat each other up and rip each other off in one way or another, what the person the poster talks about did was not honest or kind.
I understand the OP relinquished ownership of Diana, but I also feel like it's a definite unspoken rule that if someone gives you a villager for free, you're not supposed to turn that over for a profit. This is a community forum, not a feeding grounds, so common curtesy should be practiced (I'm sure the rules say something about that anyway). So, I think the poster had every right to be upset and post this rant, it's not as if they are taking extreme action to persecute the person who tried to sell her, the poster was just letting off steam, and in a community forum, that's not a bad thing. To many people this game means more than just pixels, and so it isn't such a wild thing to treat villagers with sentimental value, and I think that is a generally accepted opinion on here. I'm not trying to be really rude or patronizing or anything, so don't think that's what I'm trying to do for you, I'm just sort of voicing what I think on this.

I don't want to come of as cold-hearted, but any item or villager you give to someone for free could potentially be turned around and sold. Unfortunately, the best way to make sure someone really wants a villager in their town as a dreamie is to make that person dip deep into his/her ABD / TBT stash to get that dreamie. If someone wants a villager for 0 IGB / TBT, that honestly means that person doesn't really value the villager that much. Someone who is willing to give up 200 TBT for that villager is a lot more likely to really care. I respect people who have the generosity to do giveaways, but giveaways tend to attract people who are just looking for free stuff. Now I know that some people may think it's elitist to say that only people with a lot of IGB / TBT deserve to be able to get their dreamies, but the people who deserve their dream villagers the most are people who sell stuff to other people and contribute on these forums and give back to the community as opposed to the people who post one buying thread after another and spend left and right. Every person is only entitled to so much without giving back. It might not feel like the "nice" thing to do, but if you want to give something away, sell it for a fair price instead so that you aren't helping the moochers.

That guy/girl was shady in what they were doing, but hey, that happens in life and you have to deal with it. If you offer things for free, people will take them and try to make profit. That's everyday life.

For all that is good-

I just wanted to vent a bit. I was a bit upset. I'm better and have moved on. Everyone has their opinions as they are entitled to. I'm sorry if this page has upset anyone or has gone against some of those opinions.

My question has been answered, I am no longer upset, and I have moved on. There is no reason to get into arguments here.

Thank you everyone for posting. The problem has been taken care of. We may all move on from this now, please.
