the first thing you after stepping out of the train station were villagers greeting you and addressing you as their mayor. and you were forced to believe we are the mayor under pressure. so why are we the mayor? what is the story behind it?

well, they got it wrong. you get a letter when you start ypur town from the person who was supposed to be mayor lol. some villagers will say when they suggest a pwp something along the lines of "you promised when we choose you! wait. we never had an election, we kind of forced you to be mayor!"

yeah, there have been theories of who was actually supposed to be the mayor, and much discussion about how Isabelle literally forced you to be mayor no matter your character's protests at the beginning. It's fun to think about about it all, but in my mind, my character is happy to be the mayor.

Because Rover couldn't handle the pressure to be mayor, so he gets to live a life of train traveling while you sit behind a desk >.<

When Tortimer retired he left the role of mayor to his friend, who has the exact same name as you. Said friend never had any photos and never came to the town. They all just decided the next person who comes in with that name was the mayor, and then you moved in.

it was a misunderstanding and you tried convincing them in the beginning that you're not actually the new mayor, but they pass the things you say off as a joke. you eventually gave up and went along with being the mayor
