Something I Noticed

Okay, so you know how your mom sends you letter every now and then, right? She'll offer some maternal advice and maybe attach a gift to congratulate you for being you. But have you ever noticed that she never makes reference to the fact that you're the mayor? I don't know if I've just never seen it, but in all of the letters she sends me, she'll say something philosophical or knowledgeable, but she'll never say something about your role in the town you live in. Even in the first letter she sends you in the game, she wishes you luck on living on your own, but she never even mentions you becoming mayor. Thanks for the support, Mom.
Has anyone else noticed this? Or have you observed the opposite?

This is true, but don't you think your mom would find out somehow? I doubt the main character would keep that a secret. If it were me, I would've let the whole world know. >.>

loool same here....but the main character is pretty quiet, and you can't even send letters to Mom to even tell. If I was the main character I'd run away if a town thought I was mayor and I couldn't even explain myself XD

as its been said, you, as the child, have no interaction with your parents canonically. perhaps some people headcanon you send letters back, but as it is, you cant. therefore, your mum wouldnt really have a clue, unless she saw you in the newspaper or something i suppose.

it would be nice, but, theyd have the same programmed responses as villagers have so imo itd feel kind of hollow. though it would be nice to tell dad to get off his ass and send more letters lmao

I saw a headcanon thingy on tumblr that Isabelle sent the parents letters to make you feel better that your parents never acknowledged you. Because in the real world, most parents would want to see your new house and communicate with you fairly often. I thought that was a cute idea.

It would be nice to write back. Your poor in-game mom must get really sad that you never write her back.

xP I just can't imagine my RL mum being very happy if it was what I done with my life.

I'd like to think the in-game mom is the one who contacted the town and told them about a new mayor showing up, which is why your mayor is confused when they arrive at the town to be mistaken for the mayor that they know nothing about and that the letter you receive at the beginning from someone saying that they wanted to be the mayor, maybe that's a message from the mom because she wanted to be mayor of the town, but decided she was too old for it, so she lived out her dream through her child.

I broke out of my town once and ran through the tunnel. But then Isabelle dragged me back but late at night I dug myself underneath the town.
