Some questions about luck & plot resetting?

So I have a few questions, thought I'd make it all in 1 thread.

1. How long does bad luck last?
2. My luck right now isn't adding up. According to Thonky's guide on luck, getting 8k from a money rock (which I did) should mean I have good/ average luck, but I still keep tripping?

About plot resetting:

1. can you reset for villagers? Today I knew someone was likely to move in, and so I checked w/ a new character that the villager didn't move in on my hybrids. However, I was curious if the villager moving in would change, and reset about 5 times, but all times I still got Rowan? If it helps, Cherry just moved out on 21st, and I have 9 villagers currently (excluding Rowan).

When you have bad luck, it'll only last for a day.
It does add up though. Are you sure you're looking at the correct things? http://www.thonky.com/animal-crossing-new-leaf/why-tripping-luck/
Good luck is on the left and bad luck is on the right.
Btw, tripping is always a sign of bad luck. The main way to change it is go to Katrina and get the tingle hood or celebration hat to stop the tripping and go back to normal.

Villager resetting can depend. If you had 8 and you know someone is moving in randomly, then you get reset and get new villagers, but that's also at the cost of not being able to choose exactly where you want them to go.
However, since it seems that Rowan hasn't changed even after plot resetting multiple times, that means he's your only option. Did you invite Rowan in or get him from a random wifi or streetpass void? If so, then no, that villager won't change at all.

Yea I was looking at the same article as the one you linked, and I got 8 grand from my rock. That was the highest I got though (not 16 grand) so I'm not too sure with that? My town has never had Katrina lol, so I just wait it out and don't run (had Redd 3 times so far).

Ah I see about villager resetting; I did have Streetpass on, so I probably got Rowan from there. ^^

Every day I get 16,100 bells from the money, so that's the highest you can get on a normal day. If you got less than that it's an indication of bad luck or you not hitting the button fast enough to get all 8 areas around the money rock to be filled.
I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to ask then if you know you got less than 16k from the rock? You have bad luck either way so tomorrow it should be gone. You could always buy it in the forum, or ask to catalog it for next time.

Oh I thought that getting 8k was normal luck? Because that Thonky article lists getting 4k as your highest as bad luck, so I thought that getting 8k was normal luck. 16k is really lucky for me, since I rarely get it (even when hitting the rock fast enough to get all coins/bags).

Haha maybe I've just had bad luck on a daily basis and never noticed. XD

Bad luck: it only lasts for a day, though sometimes you can get more than one day in a row. Just be patient or visit Katrina (if you don't have her shop in your town yet and she's not visiting today, you can visit someone else's town to see her). I've never noticed bad or good luck to affect money rocks consistently, the biggest factor is how quickly you can hit it. I've had normal luck days when I just got a few hundreds because I wasn't fast enough. Maybe you're being really quick and you're on the high end of bad luck with the money rock.

Resetting for villagers: I don't think you can reset for villagers in your situation, I'm sorry. Your 10th villager is always a specific villager that you've invited from another town or from the campsite, or that you've picked up from someone's void. Since it sounds like you didn't invite Rowan, you probably got him from someone who voided him. You can reset villagers when you have 8, though, because the game will automatically move in a 9th villager. In that case, while some villagers and personalities can appear more often than others, you can usually reset it.
