Just been seeing a kind of trend lately where a lot of traders are starting misleading threads or not following through on their sales, and it's kind of discouraging lol.

Item sale threads where the shop owner puts you on a list as having an item reserved, then when you go to buy it they say they gave it away to someone else...

A villager auction thread where someone claims the auction goes on for three days, with no posted buyout price, then immediately sells to the first person who comes along...

Villager or item threads where you buy an item, and the OP tells you you can come pick the item up right away, but then decides to sell it to someone else if they offer more after telling you the item is yours to pick up...

People who never reply to requests in their shops, or set up an order for you and never contact you to pick it up...

None of these are scams. They don't take your money and run away, but they are kind of immature lol. It seems to be happening a lot recently. Hasn't happened to me personally, but I've seen it crop up in a lot of threads. Why can't people just make a clear agreement and stick to it? It's just common decency lol, and I don't remember seeing problems this often on this forum a year ago.

should prolly have posted this in belltree HQ

but yeah, i feel you, people can be annoying

The latter case is considered a scam. A rule was implemented 2 months ago that forbid this event from occurring unless it was said prior that the rules/outcome could change.

oh, and as for why there are more now, maybe there are more kids on the forum than there were previously???? idk tbh. :/

I've honestly noticed it more within the last two weeks than ever before since joining (which, to be fair, wasn't too long ago). But yeah, greed sucks. I absolutely love and appreciate everyone who has helped me get my dreamies, there are *really* stellar people on these forums, but you always get your handful of ... well, those other ones.

Oh! Yeah if this needs to be moved o.o go ahead and move it, anyone who can.

And yeah, there ARE a lot of stellar people :). I just feel this had to be said, because it's sad that it's been running a little rampant recently with the derp trading.

While I agree it's annoying when sellers screw up, it's equally annoying when buyers never reply to your PMs >.<

"I CAN SEEEE THAT YOURE ONLINEEEEEE. REPLY ALREADY ;^;
If you're not interested anymore, PM me, or I'll keep reserving it ;___;"

... you do know that like... was it a month or so ago that if a seller tells you you won and then retracts the sell you can leave them negative feedback... and same with a buyer right?
Especially with auctions.
Unless it says that the end date and time can change before the auction starts... and the seller sells to someone who bid after it ended and you were the one who won to begin with.

Can't leave feedback if I'm not the one who was buying in the first place. I'm just noticing what's happening to other people lol. Friends of mine, strangers I sympathize with. I haven't been personally affected by this. Yet. Lol xD. I can sense it coming any day now.

Ohmygosh even if they do reply but they wait FOREVERRRR like they reply and then you tell them you can pick up the item/ villager but they don't reply for days but you see they are active T-T

I agree these kinds of things are discouraging. Yes, yes, this is just a game, but if you are going to sell or exchange anything, there should be some integrity. And dare I say it, some professionalism! :).

What's worse is when they reply with one - three words. Like:

"Not interested."

YOU COULDN't hAve TOld mE ThAt SOONER?! ;^;

Last time, there was this guy in the villager trade who newly made an account and randomly does buyouts of villagers. My brother and I got really suspicious of him doing that all the time and barely having any wifi ratings(only one). If he had been seriously buying, he would've had more. He also increases his bids even without anyone bidding higher than he did. He also has no dreamy proof whatsoever and once, he was already able to get a villager, yet did not retract his ridiculously high bid, causing the actual buyer to spend even more for that villager. True enough, he posted a bid on my brother's auction and was not responding after being contacted. So after consulting a mod, my brother dropped him a negative rating reducing his rating to 50% and after that day, We have not seen him trolling since :)
