I noticed something curious while going through my inventory, apparently with the 1.6.0 update the Winter Solstice sweater was renamed to Midwinter sweater, and the Summer Solstice crown was renamed to Sunflower crown. I saw on Nookipedia that instead of both items being available on both solstices, the crown is available June 7-July 6 for North hemisphere/December 1-31 for South hemisphere, and the sweater is available December 1-31 for North hemisphere/June 7-July 6 for South hemisphere, which all makes more sense than it was originally IMO.

But, why on earth change the names? Not that it matters in the least, of course. I'm just slightly confused, lol.

Hmm.. maybe they just thought to rename to more 'literal' items? It is Nintendo, and they do odd things like this all the time.

Guess "winter-solstice sweater" and "summer solstice crown" is too much of a mouth full? 🤷‍♂️

EDIT: I just switch the game to Japanese. The items have been renamed to
ひまわりのかんむり and まふゆのセーター which is Sunflower Crown and Midwinter Sweater respectively.
The english localization just did the literal translation of the items the first time around as "winter-solstice sweater" and "summer solstice crown". I like the name changes. It makes a lot more sense in English.

It's not that weird that they change the names and it's not the first time they done it in NH.
They also the name of this time from Writing Poster to Study poster if anyone remembers that.

I wonder if they are going to add a line of items that include those. Example the Sunflower Rug we saw in the trailer may be paired with the sunflower crown for something or some season.

I was confused by this too. My first thought was maybe they changed the names because they are no longer the only summer/winter solstice items? But I have no clue.
