So you weren't happy with the update..is there at least something you appreciate from it?

pascal and the mermaid series making a comeback - pascal is one of my favourite npcs and i’ve missed him so much. i’ve also missed the mermaid set - it was one of my favourite sets in new leaf! i’m also hella excited to go swimming again and to see any possible new designs for the wetsuits ;u;

I'm happy with it so far, but it would've been better if Brewster did return.

Wells heres to hoping that he may get added in a future update! even though its not this one ;_;
Also, I didn't play new leaf but I heard there was like a dream suite thing where you could visit a copy of someone's island or something without actually physically being there. I think that would be pretty cool to have so you could see and experience someone else's island any time

Also I'm glad swimming is a thing, people a couple weeks ago were finding ways to glitch themselves into bodies of water LOL so I'm glad we can actually do it legit

I'm happy with it :) more museum stuff is always good. I was hoping for more, but more is to come so I'm fine with it for now! I'm curious how the Gulliver thing is. Will there be multiple versions of Gulliver? It is regular gulliver being replaced by pirate Gulliver? If they alternate, it'll be even harder to collect all the original Gulliver items :(

I’m super happy about the update and it has reignited my desire to landscape, which I’ve been doing all night. Finally!

People will complain about anything.

*free* dlc updates, and I’m sure they will have more to come past the summer. People will cry and moan that they don’t have everything right away, even though the base game has a ton and they are adding back more *for free*.

There was a thread where we as a community ranted about what was missing, and I did list plenty of things. There was a lot I was sad about that they hadn’t added, and annoying things like accidentally plucking flowers when I want to pick up an item, but it doesn’t make playing Animal Crossing NH less enjoyable. But being unhappy with an update of new creatures, swimming, furniture, a new character because it didn’t have everything you automatically wanted...? Lmao.

I'm happy! I just got motivated to decorate an area with the existing shell/summer shell items, so it'll be fun to add mermaid (and maybe pirate!) items. I've always been on the fence about mermaid items - they aren't my favorite but I keep using them!

And I'm hoping swimming motivates my S.O. to play again :^D

Honestly, I don’t really complain about the game that much. It will never be perfect. Nothing ever will. I enjoy it as it is while also appreciating the new content as it comes. Some people complain so much that I wonder why they even bought the game! It’s leaps and bounds better than NL and it has a lot of cool things even though it’s missing some characters and whatnot. I love it!!!

It just annoys me that people complain about free dlc. Like you guys begged for updates and we're getting two back to back! I begged for swimming and we got it so i'm happy. It's just weird to complain about something that is free. Maybe my mom just taught me to not be disrespectful like that. :// And tbh this game on it's own is better than nl. For years we begged to be able to tear down our town to make it our own and now we get to!

I have my gripes with NH, but I'd actually love to hear why you think it's better than NL. I'm on the fence about that one, I think because NL also came out at a time that I really needed it.
Edit: @Milky star my question is for you too!

Terraforming. You can design your island exactly the way you want to. You can move houses and buildings anywhere. Remember how much of a pain it was to have villagers move their houses in the right spots? And having a town you couldn’t change, and you could only have a few public works? You can lay down paths (that aren’t custom) without accidentally clearing them from the ground. You absolutely couldn’t. That’s the best part of animal crossing for me.

There’s more creatures (and they’re adding even more in the updates), and honestly crafting is useful if you want a billion of an item without needing so much money to get more. And now that they’re adding back swimming and diving! I’m sure we’ll see a lot of NPCs come back as well.

To me, NH is better because of the larger inventory, better graphics, fish bait that makes rare fish hunting easier, more clothing options and colors, quicker ways to customize your character, new/more furniture, the option to give your villagers a gift every day, terraforming, pole vaulting, larger number of bridges allowed, being able to move villager homes and other buildings, villager/special animal posters via Amiibo, campsite villagers (even non Amiibo ones) being able to kick out a villager when your island is full, being able to use a one time dodo code for a trade rather than having to add and delete friend codes, and the Nintendo Switch smartphone app that makes typing ingame chats easier.

I also loved NL, though. I have over 1000 hours on it! I just think that NH is a better game overall.

Are people not happy with it? I think it's great!! I'm excited for swimming, diving, more things to donate, the mermaid series.. hoo boy

I am just really hoping the café and/or dream suite come real soon
