finally, FINALLY found all the fossils, and...i get nothing. nothing but a pat on the back and a 'thank you for your contributions!' i don't understand how getting the golden shovel is through buying fertilizer rather than donating all the fossils?

oh well, at least my villager requested the lighthouse, finally!

Yup, rather anti-climatic once you finally complete the fossils. But, you can buy museum model from Celeste once you complete all the exhibits. Imo it should be a thing sent to you, like how the town hall model was sent to you back in CF. But oh well. Congrats on filling the fossils thou!

In Wild World also you got a museum model for free. It's dumb that you have to buy it in NL! What kind of appreciation is that?

Well it's a good thing I saw this post now I'm about halfway through trying to complete the fossils. Do you not get anything at all, even when you finish all the fish, fossils, bugs, and art?

As you complete each section, if you have the museum shop built on the 2nd floor, new items will become available. I think it's just wallpaper and carpet, though. And when you complete the whole museum, a museum model becomes available in the shop. But you have to wait for the items to show up randomly and buy them if you want them.

Even though it is not the most rewarding completing the museum, I think the biggest reward of it at the end of the day is being able to look at the exhibits completed (the art one being my favorite one when completed)!

like, don't get me wrong! i'm super glad that it's completed, but this is the first, the ACTUAL FIRST town that i was able to complete a section. there is some satisfaction of completing it though, i just wish there was more than just a 'thanks!' even if it wasn't a golden shovel.

hopefully the badges are kept and improved on, while i don't mind completing the sections, it would be nice to get some reward for the fossil/paintings

I was the same when I completed the fossil section. I was so keen to finish it finally! And then nothing. I was kinda disappointed that you don't get anything apart from a "well thanks for completing it!" from Blathers. And it's a little annoying that you have to buy the model in the end. But I'm the same as MasterM64, I enjoy looking through the exhibits in the museum from time to time, and I know I'll enjoy it a lot more when I've completed it! Hopefully the new game will have a much more rewarding reason to complete the museum

Honestly the main thing that bothers me about the museum model is that you can reorder it. This makes the item entirely useless because if you streetpass someone with it you can just get it easily. I have the special wallpaper in my house that you get for completing the aquarium exhibit, I earned mine but everyone I streetpassed can now get it with no work, kind of defeats the purpose. So yeah, in New Leaf you don't really get any reward for completing the museum, but I'm still really glad that I did, because I love visiting the museum

I also recently finished my fossil collection. I try to stay positive by thinking about how I'll get a guaranteed 10k + bells every day from selling them all now instead of donating to the museum. That's about the only positive thing, though. It really stinks that you don't even get a paleontology badge. :[
