I just got this game 2 weeks ago with a New 3DS XL. I've been addicted since. I ended up getting a new SD card (32 GB) and transferred all my stuff over. I have no idea if it has anything to do with it but my save got corrupted. It just makes me not even want to play since I have to start allllll over. I've put a lot of time into it :\

Not sure if it has anything to do with my new SD card but heres some info:

-I played fine for a couple days no problem after transferring my data.
-I started getting an error randomly saying the game had to restart, and I would lose my progress.
-I looked online and saw there was a repair game tool, I tried it and it said my AC:NL needed repaired.
-After the repair this is what I get when I try to play: prntscr^com/69lrg9 <-- change ^ to . (wouldnt let me post link cuz im new)

Is there anyway to get my data to work again? Is it because my SD card might be bad? I never messed with my time or turned off my ds when saving. I dont want to say Yes to deleting it until I know I can't restore :\

Did you pull out the sd-card proprely when you transferred data? Sometime that might corrupt the data, unless you select eject safely at the bottom of your screen (should look like an usb-cable icon, press the ^ arrow beside your volume icon and it should be there).

Maybe I transferred wrong then?

All I did was turn off my DS, unscrewed the back case, removed the SD card, copy/paste my SD card files onto my PC, then copy/paste them to my new SD card.

Sounds scary. Did you try putting the old SD card back in? Is your game still messed up when you use that instead?

Unless you didn't eject safely I honestly don't know as long as you didn't mess with your actual consoles(back case? I thought they were like a little thing you popped up and it should have opened)

And I guess you saved them to desktop or whatever (or some other easy to find place). But try moving them back again, ejecting safely and see if it's corrupted that way? Or get a new SD card, some might not work?

I gave the old card to my girlfriend so it no longer has my old data on it :\. After i transferred it and tried it it seemed like it was working fine so i let her start her own town on it. Unfortunately I have no backup, I guess I'll just have to restart.

On the new 3DS XL you have to take off the back of it to get to the SD card now :\

Ah, you can always leave them on your desktop in case of you need to do it again next time :)

Well unless you poked around inside the actual console... sounds weird. Check for dust or marks maybe, those can easily mess around.

Might be the game not recognizing since it doesn't want you to use "tools" to mess with it so could be a possibility. Or try another tool that is safer.

I already started over, after a few hours of googling it looks like it's impossible to restore corrupted data. Also from the looks of other peoples corrupt data I'm pretty sure transferring my digital game and save is what did it since the repair tool told me my animal crossing needed repaired. I can only assume transferring it didn't go 100% as it was supposed to. At least I kind of hope that's what the problem was so I never run into this issue again :[.

I just wish I still had my link clothes, mario wallpaper, mario kart, and fzero ship. Used all of my play coins on fortune cookies that are now gone D:

Well the tool was just the eShop repair tool. I feel like after the eShop repaired it, the data was slightly different so it just kind of jumbled up my save, not too sure

Yes it is indeed.

Sad to hear you had to but sometime the game/console doesn't want you to use tools like these and sometimes transfers fail, just check twice next time on everything you do, and save it on desktop just in case.

I know next to nothing about the New DS so pardon me if I'm wrong, but you said, "All I did was turn off my DS, unscrewed the back case, removed the SD card, copy/paste my SD card files onto my PC, then copy/paste them to my new SD card." with regular 3DSes there is a transfer tool. Copying files from one system to another doesn't allow downloaded things to work for that new system since the SD card is still considered part of that system. System transferring is the only way to correctly move files, unless it was changed with this new 3DS! I hope it helps and I wish you luck!!

I think you need to follow Nintendo's instructions and they're more complex than this... I haven't tried it myself so I can't be more helpful. :/
