So...Redd doesn't always have 1 legit piece of art...

I guess I haven't done my research, but in NL Redd always had at least 1 genuine piece of art, so I expected the same in NH.

Yesterday, he showed up with a Scary Painting (the guy was smiling, so I knew it was fake), The Milkmaid (a ton of milk was pouring out of the jug so I knew it was fake), the Birth Of Venus (no trees in the background, so again fake) and what I was left with was The Girl With The Pearl Earring. A quick search let me know you can tell this is fake if the earring is anything but pearl shaped, so I assumed it was the real one.

Blathers shot me down today when I tried to submit it...Redd's fakes are really good this time around...

Yep, in some instances, all his offerings will be fake. Just adds to the frustration many - including me - already feel because of how infrequent he visits.

I may be wrong, but if you get 4 fakes, then 1 or 2 might be haunted... especially the scary painting, the woman in the red kimono, and the pearl earrings one. (Haunted = animated.)

I have had Redd around 3 times and still haven't seen a statue... real or fake. I have 3 paintings and at this rate it will be a very long time and alot of luck to finish the museum. I really dont want to have to buy on here but I dont know how patient I can be with this.

I've only had Redd visit <5 times even when I was TT-ing to move villagers in and out. The only statues I've gotten were mystic and ancient. I've not heard of haunted / animated paintings though, will definitely try to keep an eye on that!

So Redd's 2 visits to my island with only fakes is just... really bad luck then.

I was so excited to see his little icon on my map. And to add insult to injury, both visits didn't have any statues (I would have at least bought some fakes of the statues I would like to use as decorations).

arghh i hate that it's not guaranteed at least one piece of art! i think with how infrequently he visits, they should've made it so that at least one piece of art was real, since it can get really annoying waiting for him. he hasn't visited me at all since the april 27 update!

Oof- the fakes are out in full force. Sorry to hear about that! I like that we’re able to view them up close and under light to help spot the differences though.

I’ve only had one Redd visit and was fortunate enough to nab the Perfect Painting (no fakes) but I may not be as lucky next time. The painting/statue gallery may go under.

I didn't know this. I've been using a TT technique to hoard all the art to complete my Museum collection, and every time he's at least had 1 real piece of art, maybe this is just uncommon?

The technique: find a day when Redds boat is on your island(you can check this fast by pulling out the map and looking at the secret beach). Buy from him, if anything is real. then TT one day forward, and as soon as you get the that date, save and jump back to yesterday when Redd was there. He'll still be there, but the art he carries will Reset.
