Pokémon SO I just bought Alpha Sapphire

I had, since being handed a 3DS to 'test' for the English Commericals, shy'd my ass away from it, I had basically always found it to be a gimick which held no interest to me.

But being it's Christmas and having had over ?1000 in my account thanks to relatives I decided to stop shying away from the console as my curiousity over how good ORAS, X&Y and New Leaf actually were. So I picked up a second hand 3DS with some funky blue sword pattern and a new copy of Alpha Sapphire, I just wondered..

IS there anything I should really know in terms of new features? I've honestly been glazing over tutorials (As it's literally boring as heck) and have played way up until Black / White 2. X & Y held no interest (and were, for some reason, ?10 more than ORAS) and plus, it's Sapphire!

Also have I more-or-less missed everything coming through the card thing (I forget the name, you connect, possibility of free stuff) or are there more events? I like, don't CARE if I miss it, chances are I'll pick up w/e from the forums no doubt.

Er, I guess the best thing is the return of Secret Bases, which have a Streetpass feature similar to ACNL, where your base can pop up in other people's games.

There's also the Friend Safari, which you'll have missed if you didn't play X/Y, which allows you to find Pokemon with hidden abilities, and is an incentive to have a ton of Friend Codes.

Wonder Trade is a great time; you can offer up anything for trade, and you'll get something in return. You'll most likely get junk, but I've gotten a few legendaries and shinies off it. The GTS is good for getting stuff like the other starter Pokemon, too.

Just X and Y
Well, in X&Y, they implemented trainer customisation It was great! They also included something called friend safaris. Basically, every person has a random generated friend safari. Each friend safari has their own type (dragon, poison ect.) and 3 pokemon of that type in it. In it, *after being online with the same person as the friend safari you are visiting* you can find their pokemon with their hidde abilities, more chance to be shiny ect.

ORAS(And maybe X&Y)
Mega evolution!! If you don't know, it's a temporary evolution for particular pokemon that happens in battle. It has a cool cutscene, makes them look cooler/worse and makes them stronger and or have different typing. The pokemon that mega evolves must hold their mega stone, and the trainer needs some sort of mega band/bracelet.
Secret Bases! It is included with Streetpass now!
Wonder Trade! It's a trading system where you connect to the internet, offer a pokemon to trade, and get a random pokemon back! It's really cool, and great for earning pokemiles ;3

I usually just use pokemon X for friend safaris now, that and breeding.
