I recently just got the new console and was super stoked. After playing Majora's Mask for a couple hours, I decided to check out ACNL. So I'm on the island online, doing yours with some random kids; bam, Resetti pops up. I was pretty annoyed and then it got me thinking, where was the New 3DS' wifi switch. Looked up online and turns out you can only turn it off by going to the home menu. Easy enough right? Wrong, you can't access home menu while online in ACNL. ;p

So this is just a warning for those looking to purchase the new 3DS. I won't stop playing ACNL but I now have to extra careful when people are visiting my town. I still have my old 3DS though and I might do some trades on there if I don't trust them 100%.

I guessing this also means no duping for those who dupilcate items

When your on wifi on the old 3DS you can't access the home menu anyway…? Can you do that on this new one? That's annoying...

Yeah that was annoying as heck. But always save and continue before a trade in case things go wrong and just hit the power switch

that's interesting and would get annoying pretty quickly... thank god they haven't brought the original size of the n3ds with the face plates ;-;

During the game if your gates aren't open, you aren't at someone's village, and if you aren't at the Island; you can access the home menu by pressing the home button. Other games are different but most, while not online, can access the home screen. This is true for both the new and old 3DS

So if you're on the island with wifi then how were you able to go the home screen… you can't do that?

The problem is that it saves when someone leaves, so you have to be careful if someone runs to the train and leaves your town...your last save won't matter if it re-saves. Also, I wouldn't count on the power switch, as I've heard flipping that while in the game can corrupt the file. I don't know if that's true for sure, but everyone I know avoids that.

Know where your router is and turn it off if someone tries to trap you on the island. Sucks, but it's an option. It should work for people stealing things or trampeling flowers, and could work for duping, too, though that's maybe more problematic.

I've also found the lack of wifi switch on the new 3ds a problem. For the last 9 months, my game has had an issue getting 'stuck' on the saving screen, and it happens pretty frequently. After a quick online search I found others were having the problem, and that flicking off the wifi switch when the saving screen was stuck allowed the game to save safely. Now of course, I can't do this, and the only way to save my game when it gets stuck is to turn the router off. This is really inconvenient (especially if the internet is in use in the house) and annoys me so much. I also wish Nintendo would fix that damn problem of the save screen sticking, it seems to happen to quite a few other people too.

In regards to getting stuck on the island/sometime stealing from my town, I'd just hit the power button. It's annoying, but unless the game is loading/saving, it shouldn't harm the game? Really miss that wifi switch..

I have a 2ds, which also doesn't have a wi-fi switch, so no changes there for me x3
When I'm in a trade that's not going well I usually just pull out the router or just turn off my ds.. Just turning it off like that won't corrupt the game, however turning it off while it's saving will :)

aw man that sucks lol well.. I have a reason to feel good about not being able to buy the new 3ds now lmao

People don't seem to realize the power button exists...

THISTHISTHIS

If you want to d/c or something, you use the power button instead of flicking the switch. Sure it's harder, but it's the same effect of a d/c that's maybe...an extra 30-40 second inconvenience? No big deal to me.

Well, that sucks. Seems like it will help with rage quitters in other games, though.

You can press the power button if you are going to lose what you did anyways!
