So... How many people actually DO restart?

I know there's a thread about restarting, but how many of you actually go through with it? I originally have a digital version of the game and just got the cartridge.

I originally planned to just use the second game as a cycle town, but oh man idk if it was luck or what but the first map to pop up was PERFECT. all the villager houses aligned to the right side, retail right by the dock, cherries as a native fruit, even a perfect one was already there! Kid cat is also a villager which made me very happy.
In my current town I am not happy at all, two villagers refuse to move and everyday I just get more upset with it.

... Even though I have pretty much everything unlocked. The last shop upgrade, fortune teller, shampoodle, everything...

So! Anyways, does anyone have any tips or anything for dealing with the new start ? Having to unlock everything and pretty much do everything all over all for a nicer town setup? ....Orrr is it a complete waste of time?

Actually I think a lot of people do go through with it. I feel like the forums are divided into people who compulsively restart or people who don't like to. I personally fall into the latter category but I can understand that people do it.

I restarted about 2 times now, If I know something is gonna bother me for the whole time I play, I just restart

I can't really see myself restarting. I used to play City Folk with my town Oakville, and restarting it was a big mistake for me. Starting from scratch, not being as attached to my villagers, et cetera. And I've put a lot more time and effort into New Leaf and Lynna. I really like the map I started with (except for one pesky rock that's adjacent to where I need to put a path, so when it's the money rock I lose out on some bells/ores) and the idea of starting over seems like a bad move to me.

But I'm also not done with all my goals, so who knows what I'll think when I'm finally done. Things may start to stagnate eventually. Though, if that's the case I'd probably just buy a second copy of the game from a second-hand store and go from there instead of deleting Lynna.

I restarted because my original town began to overflow with villagers I didn't like and I wanted to make a different mayor. I ended up getting a map with things in mostly the same positions as the original (town hall, the event plaza, etc.) but now I kind of wish I tried for something different because I don't think it would look good if I tried to put layers on the ground. Alas, that's life, and I'm not going to do it again because it would be too much work to get as many house expansions as I currently have and to fill my catalog again.

I've restarted once and I'm thinking of doing so again because my town just feels... like I'm stuck with it. It's just so boring to me now because it's like there's nothing left to do and all my favorites moved away so I'm not attached to any villagers, really. I normally hate resetting because in Wild World I reset my first ever town and I could never get into the game again. But sometimes I feel like it's the only way to keep the game interesting after having a town for so long.

Personally, I fall under the category of serial resetter. No matter how much I like a town, I will eventually feel like I want a fresh start and end up resetting and having to build everything up again. I'm getting better. Obviously, it can be hard to start afresh and completely rebuild everything, but it's possible. In the long run, it's worth it, if you're happier with the end result than you were with your other town.

If you find yourself bored with your town, it's probably a good time to reset and get a fresh start - turn over a new leaf. While you have to keep in mind there is no such thing as a perfect town, if something really bothers you, there's probably something better out there.

If I reset my town I don't think i'd ever play again, starting from scratch is so annoying. I finished the entire fossil section and art section and if I had to do that again I'd scream

I reset recently because I started to hate my town map. My first ever town (I reset because I hadn't played in months) had one long beach instead of two and now I have little ponds everywhere. It's getting on my nerves so I figure I'd start over January 1st like I've heard a few people are doing. The only downside to this is that I have one of my dreamies now but I'm sure I'll see her again.

Going by the number of threads around here, it looks like a lot of people restart. It's why I have two towns. Pripyat is permanent and the other one keeps getting restarted.

I would just buy another copy. I don't see how people can bring themselves to throwing away all those hours of hard work, I definitely couldn't.

Hmm I never even thought of doing this. I just had this mindset that one had to be for cycling and one legit, but this seems to be a way better idea. Thanks!

Seeing as how I'm only on day 1 in this new town and I'm loving every bit of it (and knowing what is actually a good town map this time around) it just seems like I'd be so much happier going with the new one... Ahaha but every time I think of having to redo everything it just seems like too much xD guess if lots of other people can do it, so can I. Thank you !

I haven't restarted yet for animal crossing new leaf, but I've restarted a couple of times on the wild world version. I hope it stays that way, I would probably compare my old to the new one if I restarted, but yeah it's not a bad choice thouugh

I've only ever restarted Animal Crossing if I haven't played for like... half a year or so. I'm not picky about my town layout or anything of the sort, and I work too hard to get my museums complete and house filled with goodies that I wouldn't want to risk losing it all!

I got mine off amazon for $35, prime shipping too! Its definitely the only way I could think about starting over, props to anyone who can actually wipe their old town and start new.

I restarted many times and thinking about restarting again because I always feel like I did something wrong and can do better if I restarted, not only new leaf but many other games. it's a bad habit of mine

I'll have a look for it, but honestly for me i feel as if it would be a waste of money. I don't see myself managing two towns anyway, but thanks!

I personally couldn't, because I'm way too attached too my town and villagers, plus all the time and effort I put into my town..
But I have a friend who wants to keep starting from scratch once she thinks she's done, I just don't understand it :')
