I see people making millions upon millions of bells and that's a mystery to me. Surely, if hacking or duping is involved then I wouldn't really consider that a legit way of making bells; I just wonder how would you do that in game?

I normally just wait for the evening (that's the time I usually play) to go to the island and catch bugs. The large ones on the trees appear rarely, but they sell for 6-10k bells each so I sometimes make my fortune from that.

What other kind of efficient methods do you have for making bells?

Bug catching on the island and turnip selling are the fastest "natural" ways to earn bells. You can also time travel to collect interest which isn't necessarily cheating (since time traveling is an option available on the start up screen). The people who are willing to drop millions of bells left and right probably duplicate or hack because bells are not that easy to obtain.

Personally turnips but you have to keep checking for high prices here and ask nicely to be let in to sell. Most people are really nice on TBT and very understanding when you have several trips (from locker to Retail) to sell. I usually spend between 500k-1mill bells to get a very high return. I keep one character as a holder and completely fill their locker and pockets - word of warning, don't forget and time travel!

Some people make a lot by selling villagers ? some of the villagers sell for a very high price. I personally like to give villagers away therefore my alternative is turnips.

Initially it will be bugs and sharks to make some money and then invest it in turnips.

Thanks, that's really cool! I know turnips sell for big but I never really thought of doing anything about it. It just looked pretty hard and/or getting someone to let me over their town could take a long time, but I guess that's actually quite the system. :) It's a shame I didn't earn much bells the other day :( I only have two hours before the turnips NPC leaves.

Add me and I will give you ?500k to start you off.

Turnips and beetles were my choice before. Then I discovered this trick with the Lazy campers. I filled my pockets up with beetles and sharks and other stuff and played that fruit game and made a ton of money that way (they triple the cost of beetle/item when you win the game on the first or second try).

that is so nice of you, thanks! I added you! My FC is right below my picture.

Oh I know that trick :) I read about it before I even got my game -- although it's troublesome since campers don't come very often, and not all are lazy. It's a good trick though so I would have to try it once I build my campsite. ^^

I sell my tbt because it's much easier than catching beetles or selling turnips. 100 tbt= 15 million igb if I recall correctly. Also selling perfect fruit in other peoples towns can make you a ton. 27k for one full basket as long as they don't have the same fruit as you, even more if they're on premium.

I have a lot of perfect fruits planted and some trees that already grew nicely. I'm just waiting for my friend to get online so that I could go over and sell them at her town! I would be making around 50k at the very least since it's not that many fruit, since some is still growing.

I was thinking about TBT for IGB but I feel like that's sort of cheating, since TBT is much easier to earn than actual bells in game, so trading them is just a much easier procedure and I feel like I'm not being true to the game. That said, I only really use TBT to get villagers (Since the chances of getting all of your dreamies so accidentally is extremely low), and perhaps flowers and hybrids as well, since hybrids are a mega game killer, especially with blue ones.
It just takes so much time to get, when you actually need a lot of them.

Thanks for the tips, though. :) Very helpful. I might consider doing something about the TBT system with my game, since it is very helpful.

Normally from "daily routine" stuff. I don't like to go to the island often because it tends to get boring, but I definitely will need it be (or if I happen to feel like it, which tends to be rare). Sometimes though when I'm bored I'll go fishing on one of my coasts though, and I make a few bells there, too. :3

I also (usually when I need more bells to finish off the last of a Public Works Project,) will "talk my villagers to death" (in other words talk until they "need to think for awhile") and sometimes I'll come up with some items that I'll sell that usually only gives me literally a few thousand bells. idk if anyone else does that, but I'm just putting it out there. *shrugs*

Turnips and bug catching can earn you lots of Bells. Selling fossils is a good idea as well. Since I have every fossil donated to the Museum, I can earn a good 15,000+ Bells daily for selling them with ore. :)
