So how do you kick your villagers out?

We all get villagers we don't like, think are indescribably ugly or you just don't get along with. What's your favorite way of 'encouraging' them to pack up and move town? I've heard of ignoring them, being best friends with them, beating them with gardening tools (rude), time traveling, what's your usual tactic?

Sometimes I feel like Simon and Gigi are trying to spite me by sticking around, I've ignored them for months and not a peep out of them. Either that, or they like stealing from my fruit trees when I'm not looking. I can't tell how to get villagers in and out half the time, some of them are so stubborn while others pack up and leave just because you didn't speak to them two days in a row.

I don't really have a method. I guess being friends helps, because I tied that with Flo and she moved out within 2 weeks.

But too me, it seems mostly random.

its random for me. i completely ignore some (rocco), only introduce myself (chops), or talk with them a bit (peanut).

I never quite understood why they seem to want to move more when they're friends, but that does seem to be the case. I've talked with people I don't particularly like (T-Bone) and they moved within a month or two of moving into town.

I have always had better luck befriending them. I've tried the ignore method - the villager moved 4 days after I gave up and started showering him with affection again. I'm friends with all my villagers, and they all ping randomly but regularly (except for my newest villager).

I usually bully the crap out of 'em. I usually push them into their house entrace so they can't walk away, then sternly push until he/she gets upset, angry or sad 5-10 times, then TT two days later, then TT two days back until the unwanted villager leaves. Usually works within an hour :3

READ AND READ AGAIN to make sure you understand As many times as needed. :)

Becoming friends does help. Otherwise TT two days forward and two days back. Walk around and see if anyone pings. If it's a villager you like, tell them to stay and repeat. If it's the one you want to move, TT to their moving day. If no one pings, save & exit then restart on the same day; walk around to see if anyone pings again. If not, repeat the process (usually they ping the second time around); but if you really want to play it safe after there are no pings, only move ahead one day at a time and walk around for a ping. Once you get a ping and talk them out of it, the process can be safely repeated.

Some people say the two day method will screw up your town and cause you to lose dreamies, but that's only true if you assume no one is moving because no one pinged. Only start this method after a villager has been talked out of moving, and once started don't assume that no ping means no moving villager. If you don't get a ping, follow what I said above and things will be fine. I've been using this method and yeah in the beginning I lost a few due to inexperience and assumptions; but since then, it has worked flawlessly w/o any loss of wanted villagers. One thing I do notice is that the last villager usually won't move until someone else moves out first.

Another complaint is that you are not guaranteed to have a villager move every time. This is true, but the method is safer because jumping too far ahead if a villager you like is wanting to move might just void them. I don't recommend jumping ahead any farther unless you are experienced.

The beautiful town ordinance is handy to have as others have mentioned.

My experience: started when I wanted Ed gone, then the other villagers I really didn't like. That was quite some time ago. Now I'm a cycler who regularly moves out villagers for others, and I reserve them as well. Which means I need to make sure I don't lose em'

I just met Hopper the penguin in my tent, and I nearly choked laughing. HE LOOKS HILARIOUS. He's like a fat halloween penguin with giant eyebrows, I love him. Kicking out Sally has really paid off, I think I just ignored her for months. I guess she finally got the point.

Becoming their best friend method usually works for me. Having said that, if this villager is the last one to move it, it's a bit harder (if not impossible) to get them to budge. I've never had any luck. I always had to move someone out THEN the "last" villager will move.

I usually TT one day at a time ahead, for a total of 3 days and see who is trying to move. If it's a villager I want to keep, I say no and TT back 3 days (to the original starting day). Load up again, TT one day at a time until I hit the 3 mark and see who wants to move - sometimes someone will want to move earlier (at least for me) and I do this until the one I want out, pings to move.

Edit- RIGHTT! Forgot to add, I don't really friend them a lot? I will occasionally talk to them and do 1-2 errands :l

Most of you are mentioning methods with time traveling, but what works best without time travelling? I don't TT, so I'd like the way without TT-ing..

The best way without TT is to build a good friendship with the villager :)
Hitting with nets and ignoring is not helpful. Once they build a friendship with you, they will want to move on to try new things/places.

Most people mention TT because it is quicker. Building a friendship can take awhile, but if you have patience, it's the best way.

Befriend them, and if they ask.
I'll let them go, and if they disagree with that...well...I dunno.

I ignore them. Introduce yourself and NEVER SPEAK TO THEM AGAIN. Don't hit them with a net, the game thinks that you are friends, but doesn't move friendship level up or down. I did this to many villagers and they moved out.

I've also had the best luck with introducing myself once and then avoiding them like the plague. After about a week or so, start triggering pings via swimming out into the ocean and staying there about 10-ish minutes. Once you get back to land and your villagers realize you're still alive they'll start pinging you, and that villager should soon be asking to move.

If you've messed this up, create a new character and do the same thing.
