Snooty villagers and compliments

do you ever reach a point in your friendship with the snooty villagers where they actually believe your compliments and don't accuse you of lying? I feel kind of trapped whenever I visit Diana and she asks what I think of her home, because she seems to get upset when I compliment her, yet I'm sure she'd be upset if I told her it was awful too.

I think I am at max friendship with my Diana. She often writes to me about how she values our friendship and just the other day she stops me personally to say this:

Also I believe Diana blushed the last time I complimented her house and invites me to come back. My only hard to please villagers are uchis. They usually think I am acting all nice to them when I compliment their houses.

so perhaps the solution is to go with the average answer then. I remember the first time I saw her house, I honestly thought it was so beautiful. I felt kind of sad when she accused me of lying because it was an honest response from me. =p

Tiffany stopped thinking I was lying, but I think it is because I gave her some more sleek furniture, so now her house "matches" more? She did not accept compliments with her default home.

I have Portia (and have had Gwen and Ankha), but Portia's been the only one who's accepted my compliments, but then day later sends me mail saying 'I wish I could believe what you said, so I'm going to improve my home to earn your respect'.

I don't think that telling them their house is great diminishes your friendship levels at all, since you're still being nice even if they don't believe in your compliments and if you say anything average or bad they end up being sad anyway. I don't think that Snooties ever reach a point when they fully accept compliments but it doesn't harm to still say nice stuff. I've noticed that other personality types do that too sometimes, especially Crankies and Smugs. You can tell they value you as a friend when they start saying nice stuff about you, though.

I'm at this point with Amelia though I don't have max friendship with her any longer.
She seems to appreciate every time I compliment her home.

Maybe that's just something that your best buds do, Cube and Mac are ALWAYS coming over unannounced, Rory a few times but with the other two I have trouble just re-decorating it's like once per day practically.

That is something villagers with high friendship levels do.
So it is kinda of a good thing.

Just keep complimenting her. I love the snooty personality. They are kind of, um...well, snooty at first. But once they warm up to you, they can be super sweet too. I feel like the crankies are the same, but I don't like crankies for some reason. I think it's their creepy voices. Anyway, Diana is lovely. She'll be your friend soon.

Also, eventually she will accept it and say you're nice or something like that. I know Monique loves it when I compliment her. She also does this thing where she runs up to me and says how she heard people are saying she's saying mean things about me, and wants to know if I believe that. And when I say I don't believe it, she gets really happy. So I know she loves me now.

Kitty is hardly ever actually "snooty" anymore...I guess I could say we have formed a nice friendship.
