This probably wont mean much to most people who still play these games here. For those who don't know, smogon is a forum and website known for coming up with competitive strategies for the metagame. Now they wont use this as a factor while coming up with move sets and teams. People seem to be a tad baffled.
 
Some g-max moves have effects that are nice, but it only lasts for 3 turns.

Maybe the effects are considered OP so they banned them? I don't have the game so I don't know much details but I remember some Megas being banned probably for the same reason, at least in the OU tier.
 
in doubles (pretty much the only format i care about) it hasnt been banned and some gmax mons have been unbanned recently, unless this news just came out
in singles its much more unhealthy for the meta
