Smash Bros Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U Discussion Thread

I guess I'm just wondering -- are there still more characters they haven't announced yet?...
I'm happy old favorites have returned, but I'm not too keen on some of the new characters.
But there must be more characters, right? They just haven't released them yet?...
(I was kind of hoping for Tetra, given Toon Link's presence, and the HD release of Windwaker. I doubt that happening due to Sheik and Zelda taking up two spots on their own, though...)

Yeah I honestly expect that they'll just release the full roster during E3. That's what I'm looking forward to anyway.
 
Smash 4 General Discussion

I didn't see a thread of this so I decided to make it. Just general discussion.

Did anyone go to Best Buy? If so, what did you like about it? Who did you play? Wii U or 3DS or both?

I played as TLink on the 3DS and it was ok. his moveset is the same as before, but if he misses his grab, his grab has less lag. Bombs are smaller

I played as Villager on the WiiU. Really weird character. His back air and Forward Air are both sling shot. His forward smash is the bowling ball which weirded me out.

I played as Pink Greninja after, his divekick & projectile are snazzy

I come from playing Melee competitively since 2008 so I'm not as excited because of the lack of movement options but I'm excited for the roster & the game to come out.


What do you think about it?

HOWEVER WELCOME. MELEE MASTER RACE. I DID NOT MEAN TO SOUND LIKE A JERK.
I was so excited about the invitational because it really felt like nintendo was giving back directly to the melee community. I was so glad to see Prog and D1 commentating. However I flipped **** and was so mad at the end because hungrybox deserved that win and I wouldve much rather seen him play Amsa.

Also PPMD repping my home state and east coast melee won the "fan favorite" tournament! stack it up bruh!

I did. I stood in line for over four hours, when I finally got there my back and feet were hurting really bad. I thought they would have it on more than one Wii U but there was only one. They should have had like ten. They had two 3DSs but I didn't have time to play on it.

Since Wario wasn't playable >_> I chose villager both times, he's pretty cool. I loved the Shrunk Funk Shuffle for a taunt! But I don't know where they are getting some of the attacks from, like since when do you ever carry a bowling ball in the Animal Crossing games?

Lol @ people talking about Best Buy event. They did the SAME thing when I went in 2013 for the DK, WW, 3D World, and MK8 demo. 1 WiiU demo, 30,000 people showed up, we were there for 4 hours to play a 3 minute game. Although at least they had people walking around with 3DS systems to show off games that were new at the time. Plus of course everyone had their 3DS with them, we played MK7 and Mario Tennis while we waited.

Yeah I played Animal Crossing and Mh3U to pass the time, and I bought snacks from the checkout lanes. It was a great way to get lots of streetpasses if anything. I just regret not bringing a folding chair
 
Zero's first impression on the characters from the demo build:
Top Tier
Kirby - Extremely fast, powerful, great grab range & throws, fantastic recovery and great spike
Pit - Extremely good super armor side B KO move, very fast, excellent recovery and a reflector
Zero Suit Samus - Very agile, fantastic recovery, range and combos
Greninja - Great aerials, fast and powerful attacks and a great projectile. Good recovery, too!
Donkey Kong - Surprisingly fast and very strong. Great recovery as well and a powerful spike

High Tier
Pikachu - Powerful Smashes and combos, great recovery and fast
Mario - Surprisingly agile and has tons of combos and great aerial game
Olimar - Powerful and fast moveset coupled with a fantastic recovery
Samus - Super fast and powerful ground game, Up-B is a KO move and has a great recovery
Fox - Very agile, super good recovery, tons of combos
Marth - More ground based now, weaker aerial game, throws are KO moves, great range
Rosalina - Very floaty, tricky game, great Up Smash, good aerials
Bowser - Fast and powerful, could be even higher!

Mid Tier
Mega Man -Weak up close game, but strong medium range game, good escape and tricky
Wii Fit Trainer - Very undeveloped, don't know much, though, putting her in the middle is safe.
Villager - Very weak up close, slow smash attacks, but good tilts and Up/Down Air
Sonic - No one played him!!! Putting him in the middle to be safe.
Link - Faster gameplay overall but much weaker camping game.

Low Tier
Little Mac - One mistake and you're done for! Can't fight platform camping or shield spam efficiently. Not the best grab range. Super powerful, but risky to use.
Zelda - Her moveset lacked strength, speed and range to compete with the other characters. She definitely needs to be changed up a bit.

These are my first impressions. We'll see how the game turns out to be when it comes out! Remember guys, this is a demo, it's bound to change.

Also I talked to Kevin, and if you dash attack and it ends near the ledge and you quarter circle pivot you'll cancel your dash attack and grab ledge
