Sleeping Cyrus?

I'm not sure this is normal. I already unlocked Cyrus. But I just walked into Re-Tail, and he was asleep again.
Does he go to sleep after 7pm or something? I never noticed..

Is this even normal?

I've noticed that he sleeps when I have my gate open/someone over.

He goes to sleep if you have your gates open.

Is your gate open?????
or
You have to unlock Cyrus for each character your have, just like you have to unlock the QR machine in the Abel Sister's shop for each character.
If unlocked, Cyrus is awake the entire time Retail is open.

Ohhhh my yes. My gates were open. I walked into the town hall, and I couldn't go in the back. Turns out my gates were open >.< Hahahha I feel so stupid! Thanks everyone!

Yep! When your gate is open: Certain bugs won't spawn (bees from shaking trees for example), Cyrus sleeps, Luna "takes a nap", the photo booth is out of order, Digby is on break, access behind the counter at Town Hall is restricted... To name a few.

I found this out with Sable too. I tried to use the QR code machine, and even though I had unlocked it she wouldn't let me use it! I thought it was because I had ignored her for over a month and our friendship had evaporated. The kind folks here told me I probably just had my gate open at the time. Whoops

I've done this before and freaked out! I thought I'd broken my game somehow - for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why Cyrus was sleeping and why Pelly would only let me send mail.
