Skeletons? In /my/ trees?

I had to share a funny moment that just happened

So, I have a graveyard (for aesthetics) on my island and on each side is a patch of four trees as close together as the game will allow. (One space on each side.)
Two of the trees directly next to each other had my two daily items! Cool! But... BOTH items were skeletons!! For one, what are the odds? For two, why in front of the graveyard!?
