Single species island?

I'm gonna try to get almost all the wolves but because they're all cranky and snooty (minus skye and audie) I wont have a ton of variety. Plus there are 11 wolves and only 10 spots!

I do plan on having at least 7 wolves though.

i was about to say "hey that's not true, dobie is lazy"... and then i remembered they changed him to cranky LOL whyyy, i wanted him to come back specifically because i wanted to have a lazy wolf!
kyle is smug if you like him though, and if they ever end up bringing back the zelda amiibo villagers there'll be wolf link as a smug. i hope tarou the purple jock wolf from AFe+ could still come back someday.

to respond to the original topic, though: i've thought about doing this with maybe squirrels or another one of my favorite species! but then i realized, i'd rather have variety and not have more than 2 or at max 3 of the same species haha. the only exception to this is one town in NL where i have like, 5 horses and that's because it's a my little pony inspired town so i decided at least half the villagers needed to be horses. it's always cute and interesting when people do make one-species towns though, and i'd love to see some islands that do the same in NH.

i was really hoping for more varied personalities for wolves in new horizons, though i'm def glad about audie. i'm the type that wants at least 1 of every personality, so my dreams of making a wolf town were destroyed lol. (also whyy did they ever have to change dobie to cranky!) i was also considering a deer village, but besides them also missing one of the personalities, i think at the end of the day i just love too many different villagers from all the species to commit to just one.

i am trying for all different species in new horizons! in new leaf, i unintentionally had 6/8 bunnies (coco, bunnie, ruby, mira, gaston, genji)

Ostrich lady here!
In New leaf my town was populated by all ten ostriches of the game:
Blanche • Cranston • Flora • Gladys • Julia • Phil • Phoebe • Queenie • Sandy • Sprocket

Why? Simply because i love them all! Yes sure, some more than others (Flora, Phoebe, Blanche, Julia) but i simply love the design, even if they share the same model, they are actually different species of bird.
Flora is a flamingo, Cranston is a Ibis, Phil is a pheasant, Gladys is a crane, Julia is a Peac0ck... and Phoebe is a majestic phoenix! Only Sprocket is the *meh* villager because is a robot and not a true ostrich but is necessary, or i miss a jock villager, so i just accept is presence. ù-ù *and i'm just little salty because they did not introduce new ostriches, especially a cranky one, the only personality that is missing but, whatever....*
Actually i'm trying to do the same thing in New Horizons, and i'm in half of my trip, 6/10 ostriches are in my town and only 4 are left (Julia, Sandy, Sprocket and Queenie) and i hope there is not a single stupid glitch to stop me!

Blanche is a swan. I agree that the ostriches are great because they’re more than just ostriches.

It’s nice to know people actually do this. I couldn’t because I only want one of each species...

I want to do a half cat half wolf town but it's hard since I also really love Fauna and Bangle lol. So I try to do an equal amount of the species. Like if I do three cats and three wolves, I'll do two deer and two tigers. But I haven't decided on my final 10. The ones in my signature I want for sure but ugh lol. I wanna keep the species even, it's just hard.

I'm a cat person irl so I may just stick with the majority cats lol

A friend of a friend has an all Bear town, but that wasn't her choice. A bunch of bears just moved in lol.

I love all of the wolves so I've been considering doing that, but then I'd miss out on cuties like Fauna and Molly. Currently I'm aiming for 4 wolves and 3 deer, so not a great deal of variation, hahah! I'll have different species for the last 3, but from a limited pool since I'm aiming for a foresty kind of theme.
