Yep, that's correct! To preserve your Silver Axe, I'd recommend hitting a tree for two chops with either a regular or Gold Axe, and then making the final chop with the Silver Axe. Silver Axes don't last forever and are rare, but as long as the last chop that brings down the tree is made with a Silver Axe, you'll get a special stump.

I've gone through hundreds of Silver Axes, buying them in bunches from the Museum, and just because they had more uses than the regular axe...

Silver Axes are from the island.

Anyway, you can get more use out of the silver axes if you do the first 2 strikes with a regular or gold axe, and the last strike with the silver axe.

The point is that they both have their perks, silver axes make special stumps every time but can break, gold axes are indestructible but don't guarantee special stumps. If the gold axe could do everything silver ones would become useless once you've gotten it.

Hmm I know the silver and gold shovels both have perks (silver can sometimes get ore from the money rocks, gold can make money trees) but I'm not sure about the other tools?
