Silly question about the 16-cycle

This is towards anybody who had a friend/trustworthy person to hold a villager for them while they cycled to get the villager back.

Let's say you lose Fang in a TT accident and have your friend hold him. You cycle 16 and you're able to get him back, so your friend gives him back to you.

When he moves back into your town, does he remember you? Does he say, "Oh, hey, ____! I decided to move back here because I just couldn't stay away!" or something?

I've never cycled 16 and for some reason I'm just really curious. So do they remember you and that they used to live in your town, or is it a 100% clean slate?

I just finished cycling for Fauna a few days ago. I had a trustworthy person hold her.

What she said when I picked her up was, "It's going to be great being neighbors again!"
Or somewhere along the lines of that. It made the 16 villager cycle so much worth it omg.

I'm real sad about that too. If I ever get Olivia/Barold back, I want them to recognize me

I think if you pick up the exact same villager that moved out (like if a friend was hanging on to them) they remember you, but if you pick up a new copy of the same villager they won't

yup!! when i had marshal in my previous town, my friend saved him from a TT accident. when i was through with cycling, i went to get him and he was all like, "haha wow im glad to be moving back!" (i cried a bit)

I wonder if they intended to make it like that! Like just a "life goes on" kind of concept and if you take it slow you won't lose anything in the end.

(ive never had to do the 16 cycle before and ive just done two at once so i cant answer this question but i thank everyone for the answers omg im so happy)
