Yeah, so far Rumba de Janeiro is my favorite out of the ones you've posted.
Cool :) It's gonna have bass in it, btw, the bass player will solo the third time through that 8-bar improv motif.

he will also play on "Bulerias in D"... i'm gonna meet up with him on Wednesday to rehearse a bit more, he should have both tunes done in a couple of weeks.

Oh yeah, if you guys have the means, I highly recommend that you listen to these samples with good headphones/speakers. The recording engineer is amazing, so the sound is too, even considering that the tunes are still unmixed/unmastered.

OMG... bass overdubs are in... this sounds amazing. I don't want to post the mp3 publicly since it's unmixed, but if anyone wants to hear it, shoot me a PM!

*must hear*
*PM's*

Thanks Andy! I'm surprised at the lack of posts in this thread as of late, you guys are listening to the samples, right? DD:

Woah, how did I go without seeing this thread. :O
I don't know, man, but you've got a lot of catching up to do... haha. 53 minutes of tunes so far, with 3 more vocals... like I originally said, the overall running time will be a little over 60 minutes.

Haha, yea. I'll get through all of it eventually. I'm listening to some of the tunes now. Silhouette is astounding. It sounds like it just came out of a Final Fantasy game. It's beautiful.

I love how it changes tones constantly. It sort of gives it that mysterious feeling. That's an original piece, correct?

Thanks! Yeah, it's an original... I wonder if a lot of people will pick up on the structure or just listen straight through. I purposely made it multifaceted in terms of tone, for exactly the reason you said -- it adds mystery. :)

The structure is:

Intro - "A" (main theme) - "B" (improv "dialogue") - "C" (more upbeat, darker part) - "D" (chord "dialogue") - altered "A" (same chords, different melody) - restatement of "A".

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "dialogue?" There weren't any vocals that I missed, right? D:

I'm listening to Silence right now. Another solid piece.

By "dialogue", I mean a kind of "conversation" between the guitars... first something by the classical, then by the jazz... during "B", I'm playing two chords on the classical and improving on the electric with the appropriate scales (A minor and E phrygian, respectively). During "D", I just take turns playing chords on the two guitars.

Check out "Rumba de Janeiro" next, but it's missing the bass part, so the third time through the improv is empty... but it won't be soon :D

Recording is finally done! 14 tunes, no vocals, 53 minutes. We're half-way done mixing, so the album should be out by Christmas. :)

Some tunes didn't make it onto the album -- Carinhoso, Santo Antonio, etc... they won't be missed, to be honest; I'm extremely satisfied with how everything turned out and think the album as a whole is very coherent.

Fantastic!
I'll hopefully be able to get it when it's out.
I've looked forward to this for well, since you started telling me about it.
