Should I?

A few days ago, I lost my beautiful cat, Poppy tragically. Whilst grieving, I'm trying to look forward and I want to be able to keep her memory alive and how best to tribute her but then looking through the different AC villagers, I see there is a red Squirrel named Poppy and thought how it would be nice sentiment to have her in my town as I have a spare space available. I lost Hamphrey and was going to get him back but I find the whole cycling 16 villagers rather tiresome.

What do you think? Fitting tribute or a bit morbid?

I think it's extremely nice. Or, you could get a cat villager with the same coloring scheme as that cat.

I've seen towns with tributes to their deceased pets, and I think it's sweet. If you want to, I think it's a lovely idea. And sorry about your cat. I lost my dog last December, it really sucks to lose a pet.

I think it's nice. Will you smile every time you see Poppy or will it make you feel sad? I guess that's the real question. If the loss is still to raw, it may make you feel sad. Anyways, I'm sorry you lost your cat. I think pet loss can be pretty devastating, actually, so condolences...

I think that's fantastic. Also in addition to that, maybe you should put a signboard in your town, and mae a picture of poppy, and write "Poppy" If I lost a pet, I would be super sad too.

Thanks guys. It's still raw so yes, it's make me feel sad in the beginning but the thought of forgetting her is even worse and I want to try and remember the happier times so I think I will try and get her.

I looked at the cats but I already have Stinky and I did have Kitty before she moved out. I was going to write a letter and bury it but I'm not sure you can bury letters or not.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, as I've lost a cast before as well. I know how you might feel. And with Poppy, I say go for her. She's so sweet, and one of my starting villagers. You'll love her, and perhaps, the pain might be eased up.

I'm sorry about your cat. Getting a villager by the same name seems a nice tribute to me, nothing morbid about it. Part of why I liked Lolly so much in CF is that she looks like my own departed cat - having something that reminds you of a pet you love, even if it's just a character in a video game, is a good thing, I believe.

Also no you can't bury letters unfortunately, only the time capsules villagers give you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart aches at the thought of my cat passing on; she means the world to me but she's getting on in her years, you have all my condolences. And I don't think it's morbid at all, everyone copes with grief in different ways. Best of luck.

I have several towns and a couple mayors and alternate characters I have named in honour of my ancestors, ones I knew and ones I never had the chance to know. I have one character named Betty Ann, for an aunt I never knew who passed away at 2 1/2 back in 1951 from leukemia, and also some named for my grandmothers and great-grandmothers who lived tragic, and some heroic, lives.

I name my towns for family surnames, too. And now, having read this thread, I realize that I have chosen a few villagers that remind me of deceased pets I also loved very much.

I think the tribute is lovely. It doesn't make me sad. In fact, in Betty Ann's case, I think she would laugh had she lived and realised that I at Halloween I made her wear black, put her in black pigtails, wear a jester's mask, and carry around a jagged hatchet and wreack havoc on the poor villagers while collecting lollypops for Jack. Lol!

Please get Poppy and enjoy her! I think she will bring back your fondest memories and you will smile whenever you see her.

you can also chose a AC cat that looks like your cat and name her Poppy (nickname only for you both)... would be sweet too
