A LOOONG time ago when i was really young I hacked my copy of ACNL, but now I want to update it to ACNL: Welcome Amiibo. For the longest time I didn't play it because last time I tried to update it, it wouldn't load. Then over a year later I found it, loaded it up, and it worked. I'm afraid I will lose everything again though if I do update. I don't know if it had to do with the hacking or not.
If I was you, I would find some software that could update my town, then run the update. The update has lots of new items and features, so it's worth having. And the update is free.
If you know anyone with a Powersaves Pro or similar, the software for that backs up your town. Otherwise, there is free software that you can use to hack your game that you can also use for backing up your town. We aren't supposed to discuss hacking here, but if you Google, you should be able to find some links.

Oh my gosh i apologize, thats my bad. Thank you for the tips though! I tried updating and it wouldnt load up but when i switched the game to a different DS it worked again haha I’ll just keep it as it is i guess!
