I can't decide. It's early into the game and my sister is willing to hold all of my flowers/items. My town just isn't really what i wanted and it's to late to go back. The only down side would be losing a few dreamies, but I think eventually I would find them again, it just might take longer. I am planning on tting and I know so much more now about how I want to do things. Should I do it?

I can only share what I know, which is doing it.

I felt stuck, like I rushed through the game (not TTing, I mean more like every day I wanted to just decorate everything, measure everything, make everything perfect). So just entering the game was... stressing me out, putting me in a bad mood.

A friend held for me Sherb, since he had a free spot and while some offered I didn't really want to force my friends to make free spots just for my mistakes. They also held by bells, tickets and some items.

I love it. I'm in love with my new island that I've decided to take my time with. I did put the release date, to slowly come back to the present day (jumped egg hunt because I'm not going through that again, I still dream about eggs everywhere). Problems? Mostly DIY related, lost my dreamie Fang, which I had fell in love with in this game (hadn't met him before), but I'm sure I'll have him sooner or later back ^^

Maybe you can find someone that could hold your dreamies?

In the end whatever you do, try to now pin point what is making you sad/mad/uncomfortable about your town. Is it because you went full in with the decoration part? Is it the mouth rivers? Is it the town hall placement? I think those kind of small details could be the key for you to be happier with your new town, or if you don't reset, maybe to realize what is failing

i think i had the same issue! i rushed into it wanting it to be perfect but not taking the time to really consider what i want for my island. i think im going to do it :) i can save up all of my nmt to look for villagers and my bells and some items will be saved.

I agree to think hard about why it is you're resetting because the start of the game is such a slog. If you're unhappy with beaches, peninsula placement, town hall location, or river mouths, those are pretty good reasons to reset. Other things like fruit, flowers, and pretty much every building placement can be fixed.

There are certain things about my island that I don't like. For instance I don't like how my town hall is slightly off center from my airport but the two are still extremely close to one another. I have just been treating it as a challenge, though. And I kinda like what I've done with it so far. I know I personally wouldn't have fun getting stuck in a reset loop, but to each their own :)

If you aren't happy with your town, I think that thought itself is going to keep eating away at you until you eventually do decide to restart. So better now than later, right? I had the same issue and I'm really glad I restarted. Things are so much better in my current town

It sounds like you have a pretty clear vision on what you want to do so I would say if you want to do, do it!
As someone who restarted a lot in New Leaf and taking the slow approach in New Horizons, its definitely much better.

If you don't think you will ever be happy with your town then restart it's much better to do it earlier rather then later when you have put in hundreds of hours i restarted mine early in the game and am much happier for it

I recently reset because I knew in the long run, I would be unhappy with my island layout. I found someone to hold my items and a few cyclers held my villagers which made the decision easier on me since there was a lot I wanted to keep. I really owe it to those wonderful people for helping me through the process.

It took me around 20 hours, but I have a map that's absolutely perfect with everything I wanted (Resident Services aligned with the Airport dock, a blue Airport, and peaches). I have all of my villagers back and it was so worth it. I have had so much more fun this time around while I designed my island and imagining the possibilities.

I wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect map if you decide to reset!

I reset 3 weeks into the game. I hated my island layout, had oranges as native(literally the only fruit I hate) and I didn’t like most of my villagers(at some point I had Quillson, Olaf and that horrible Renee all living in my island and it was too much for me...I still miss beau tho, my poor boy). Resetting was the best choice for me and I love my island and my villagers very much now. Sometimes I get the itch of starting again tho. I love the first week or so in the game, the island still being a canvas and super natural, all the new little things, the hunting for the first villagers and so on but I could never restart now. I just hate the fact that you can have only one town per switch, it’s horrible...but I would never buy a second switch just for the sake of having a second town, cause I know I’ll always get the itch of restarting fresh again 😬

I think it really depends on what's bothering you. If it's just terraforming, you can always change that. If your native fruit or river outlets bother you, you won't ever be able to change that. In my opinion you need an unchangeable reason to restart, otherwise you're wasting your time.

Aww, seems like a lot of folks are getting the itch to start all over. I am thinking is due to the initial blur and excitement of playing a new AC game upon release. Folks are rushing through content and now, things feel differently.

I say, go through your island, spend some time and write a list of pros and cons. If the cons outweighs the pros and are not solvable by you keeping the island and putting additional work, then proceed.

At the end of the day, it's you that will be maintaining the island. If you get joy building a new one, who are we to say no.
