First of all, I know this is a question that ultimately only I can answer. I just wanted some opinions c:

I'm thinking about resetting my second town, Acorn, but I can't decide if that's a good idea or not. I'm getting kind of annoyed with the map and I'm realizing there are areas I can't really landscape in. Not very easily at least.
The theme I intended for Acorn is an autumn town that's loosely based off of Over the Garden Wall. I haven't made a whole lot of progress yet, but I've had the town for over a year now (I took a several month break from AC because of school) so it feels sort of sad to just throw it away.

I'm not too attatched to the town, but there are definitely some aspects that I'd be sad to lose. I named the town Acorn because it was the name of my first WW town, so it's nostalgic in that sense. And, much like the original Acorn, this town has pears (my favorite fruit, coincidentally) as its native fruit. If I reset I would give the town a new name to fit a different theme, and I'd probably go for cherries or apples as the native fruit. So I'd lose that connection to my first WW game. I can't decide how important this is to me lol

Also, even though I'd really like an Over the Garden Wall town, I'm thinking about just scraping that idea because 1) I already have a foresty, heavily-planted town (Primrose) and I don't really want another one, and 2) only playing in one season (autumn) is kind of annoying. There are also villagers who I'd really like but I'm avoiding getting because they don't match the theme well enough, like Melba or Julian.

But if I reset, I'd lose all my bells and items and villagers. I really don't have too much stuff on this game, but it's still annoying to lose it all and start from zero. I would also be really sad to see some of these villagers go, as I've become attached to them.

Pros of Resetting Acorn:
- I can try out a new theme, go with whatever villagers I want
- I can get a better map
- It might make me more excited to keep playing if I have a fresh start to build off of
- I'm not too attached to the town

Cons:
- I'd lose all progress, and I think it's really annoying to start from nothing
- I wouldn't have a foresty, Over the Garden Wall themed town that I've dreamed of having for a while now (but I already have a forest town so idk if I even really want a second one)
- My new town wouldn't be any sort of tribute/reference to my original Acorn, which held a special place in my heart
- I'd lose these cutie pie villagers and probably end up adopting different ones, not the same ones

Thoughts? If you were me, do you think you'd reset? Ughhh this is annoying

I say go for it. I reset my town because I wanted Homey to become exactly what I wanted, with no regrets. The layout was driving me insane. If you really aren't too attached to the town, that's even better--get that fresh start you wanted. If you need someone to hold items, you can ask me or one of the other lovely people on the forum. Tell a story with your new town, say it rose from the ashes of Acorn but the heart of Acorn still resides in the soil that the new town was built upon.

It took me four different map attempts before I finally settled on one for good, and surprisngly enough, I ended up with pears again, which was the first fruit I had. You never know: you may go from pears to peaches to apples to (forgot the third fruit) and back to pears again, like me. c:

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm definitely leaning toward resetting. And I might take you up on that offer to hold items, if you don't mind..? :3

Yeah I'd vote for resetting as well. It just seems like getting a fresh town would be a better choice esp considering how you hate the map and how your theme is semi repetitive towards your first town.

Oh, also about the nostalgia you have for your town. You can always try to add some of that nostalgia into your new town without having pears or naming the town Acorn. It could come in form of a room, a villager, a town flag or some small detail in your town. You could even build a tribute towards your WW town, so don't worry about losing that nostalgia aspect.

And remember, resetting progress isn't that bad if you think about it positively. Like if you think about it being a chance for you to do things better and faster than you did in your previous go.

Absolutely! ^^ vm or pm me when you're ready, I'll be around pretty much all day, and if not I'll vm you.

If you do reset save your town in the dream suite so you can visit every now and then in your new town, that's something I really wish I did before I reset my town :)

Thanks to everyone! This thread was helpful. I've decided I'm going to reset after all ^^
