It depends! What do you feel is wrong with it? Too many rocks? Dreamies in bad places? If its your original town you've had for a while, I'd recommend to not reset and work around the issues, but its up to you!
I really does depend on what you feel is wrong with it. I just reset one of my towns, because I didn't like the map, villagers, or the fruit. If you can handle what's in your town just fine, then don't do it. Or do it...just go with what you feel. If you have important items though, you could always ask a friend to hold them for you.
Try to think about if you really want to have to go through unlocking all the shops on Main Street, upgrading Nooks & the Museum all over... Finding all the art/fish/fossils/insects that you've already found all over again - especially if you have any super rare or hard to catch fish/insects! And going back to a tiny tent... If it's just characters, maybe you could just cycle them out? Either way, good luck!
I reset recently because I didn't like my fruit and map and villagers. I'm glad I did because if I didn't, I would constantly be wondering if I should have reset or not. I don't regret it at all, plus when I restarted I had dreamies in my new town. It depends on what issues there are, and if you can work around them!
Im pretty sure there is a thread but nevermind I reset this morning and I feel so refreshed and now my town Is pretty much perfect, I have already acquired a few dreamies and have recieved a few tier 1s when i started, this may not end up as lucky for you but still it is a nice refresh and helps refresh your mind!
I can't say without knowing the issues I had problems with the map but worked around them and made a plan for my map:
Now I am happy with my town so if it is a map problem try labeling your map with a plan and seeing if youre happy with it. Try fixing the problem first.
