I got Hamphrey in my town. I do not like the little hamster at all. I don't have anything to do with him and yet he won't leave! It's been over a month! I keep having villagers I actually like try to leave instead! Is there something I can do to make him leave or should I just accept his place in my town?

he's so adorable i would totally recommend him but if you don't like him then there's no point in having him?
make sure you talk to your other villagers that you don't want gone enough so that they'll ping you when they wanna leave
same w/ hamphrey
they'll all try to move at one point or another, you just have to catch them before they do

Try this method
1) Load onto a day where a villager (other than Hamphrey) wants to tell you that they are thinking of moving
2) Deny that request, save and quit (MAKE SURE IT'S ON THE SAME DAY! VERY IMPORTANT)
3) TT 6 days ahead
4) TT 6 days back in one go
5) Run around town, see who pings you to leave
6)
> If it's the wrong villager, deny them, and rinse and repeat
> If it's the right villager, tell them that they have your okay signal

Best of luck getting him out

Yeah, if you don't like him now, you probably still won't like him later. I'd try to get him out. Don't give up!

I think Hamphrey is adorable, I'd definitely have him in my town if I didn't already have a cranky that I love. Maybe you could see if he grows on you until he moves out? That's jut my opinion, but then again, I like him.

If you really hate him, have you introduced yourself to him? Was he your last (10th) villager to move in? You need to introduce yourself to villagers before they can move and your 10th move-in is much less likely to ping.

You could try the method I use. It's pretty safe (as you long as you start as a new character in the steps that say that) but it does involve time travelling. It's a good idea to have Beautiful Town enabled (to keep your flowers from dying) and you'll get bed hair and a few weeds.

First, when a villager pings you to move, tell them to stay, save your game, and quit. Set your 3DS date to a Monday of a week without any events in it. Load the game as your mayor as immediately save and quit. Change the year on your 3DS to one year later. Go back to the game but this time, start as a brand new character (this is very important). When you get the map from the station, don't go to the town hall. Just use it to check who's missing. Quit the game without saving and set your 3DS date back by one year again, so that it's on the date you last played as your mayor. Load the game as your mayor and go find the villager who would be missing in the future. If they don't ping you, talk to them a few times, save and quit (same if they're inside). Load the game and go find them again. Keep doing that until they ping.

When they ping you, if it's someone you want to keep, tell them to stay. Save and quit. Set the 3DS date one year ahead and load as your mayor. Immediately save and quit. Set the 3DS date forward another year and use a new character to check who's missing from your future map. Set the date one year back again and use your mayor to talk to the character as you did before. Keep doing this.

Once it's a ping from someone you don't want to keep, pay attention to the date they tell you and tell them to go. Save and quit and set your 3DS date back to normal. You may be far ahead in the future, but time travelling back any amount of time only counts as one day forward. This means that if that villager was going to move in 5 days, they'll now move in 4. This helps you calculate when you need to invite someone to your town to adopt them.

Did you get him from the void? If so its required to move another villager out first in order to move Hamphrey out.

I know your going to hate this but if you have a higher level friendship with a villager the more likely they will ping you to move to prove your friendship. So you need to talk to him more and do favors for him, try bonding with him xx

Thanks for the input, everyone. From everything I'm hearing, it rather sounds like I'm stuck with him - he came from a friend's town, is my 10th villager, and I'd rather not futz with the clock. Meh, it isn't all bad! I'm fortunate that my villagers all placed their homes in neat little rows.
