Pokémon Should i get Pokémon Red, blue or yellow?

Yes but it will no longer follow you around or do the facial animations.

Pikachu is possible to get in Red/Blue too. It just takes a lot longer since you need to get to the Safari Zone.

As far as my knowledge Pikachu can ge found in the Hoeen Safari Zones

That's the version I bought and I love it! Finding a pikachu in Viridian Forest took awhile but it wasn't too bad. Also the Pikachu in Yellow refuses to evolve just like Ash's does in the anime as Pokemon Yellow is more loosely based upon the anime. The only way to get a Raichu in Yellow is to trade a Pikachu or Raichu from Red or Blue into Yellow as your starter Pikachu is programmed to never evolve.
