Okay so even thou I'm making a guide for selling the town, and one of the parts are the pros and cons, I can't decide if I want to sell this town or not.

20190119_150103.jpg

This is Secret, my third town. Originally, this towns theme was going to be a horror-esque town. However I decided to change that and make it a Homegrown simple living town. It's meant to be more casual compared to my other themed towns. I ended up changing the theme once I already had my plots set and started working on it. I never realized that changing a theme could change so much. The map I have doesn't work with the new theme.

The police station was going to be on the south part of town, the side where town hall is. They were purposely put there because that was going to be the dark dismal side, and it was supposed to represent the 'no law no society' side of town. Now that I don't want to do that theme, the police station doesn't really fit anywhere. Like yeah I can put it anywhere, but it won't look good.

Also, a horror town doesn't really need a caf?, so I didn't have any plans to build one. Now, the caf? would be a very nice edition to simple living theme, plus the building has the colors I want to use for my town. But looking at my map, there is no good place to put it.

I don't really have any attachments to this town. Any animals there are either from a card/figure or random, none of them are dreamies. A different mayor name would be nice, I'll probably make Ingrid, my alt, the new mayor. I can transfer my stuff to my other towns, I would like a new native fruit. I have 2 towns with peaches and someone else I know has cherries, Secret's current native fruit. I would like pears or oranges since I plan on using them in town, plus I can have an orchard and make a decent amount farming and selling the fruit to my other towns.

I found out that my tree is at that level to sell my town, I just need to pay off my mayors loan. Annoying, but I need to do so to keep my catalogue.

Any advice? I've sold one of my towns before (in fact it was this same game card Secret is on now) so I know what to do, and I don't have any really lasting attachments that I can't do in my next town.

Thanks for taking the time read allll of this longness (I might be too detailed).

By reading your post, it sounds like it would be better for you if you would sell this town and
looking for a new one which works with the theme you would like to use. You can have then
the mayor you want (maybe also a new town name if you would like), getting a new fruit and
so on.

So yeah, I would say get a new town map. :)

I like the 2 ponds. How are you on rocks?

The rocks, while in annoying places, I have managed to work around so far EXCEPT the rock on the left side of retail and the right side of the train station plaza. I feel I can't make a nice pathwork there, it has to be at a diagonal and the rock still gets in the way. I dont like diagonal paths in my towns, it makes it hard to landscape and plant stuff. There's also a rock like right outside the mayor's house, which imo while I have managed to work around it, is ugly.

Normally, I would say not to reset unless you are certain because you may regret it. However, in this case I think it sounds like you've pretty much convinced yourself that resetting is the answer already.

I do think it's a nice map and you could still put the police station by the town hall. I don't know what your landscaping looks like right now, but I think the cafe could look nice on the cliff overlooking the beach, near where your character icon is on the map. But if the map no longer appeals to you and you don't think it will work for your new vision, I think you should reset since you don't seem attached to anything.

Oh right, the town isn't very developed so its kinda hard to see where it is in terms of progress. I found issues with the stuff I wanted to place. I was gonna place the campsite in the south by the beach and make a little camping area there. I also was gonna put the police station next to town hall, but there was going to be a bridge above and next to Drifts house. The above town hall. From there the pathwork was going to extend down and split left and right, for the station and town hall.

But yeah I think I have convinced myself to restart. I won't rn since someone I know is using it to restart her town, but I have stopped all landscaping and other progress.

I think if you’re 100% about your choice and there is no attachment to the town, you should reset. There’s no point keeping a town you don’t really care about if it doesn’t fit your vision and you know exactly what you want from your new one! You should definitely keep us updated on the progress, I’m super interested! c:

I feel like my requirements might be a bit picky, but I'm stubborn so I could map cycle for hours haha.

•I would like a green or brown town hall and train station
•A nice not ugly town hall plaza, since I want to put flower beds by it
•Rocks that don't comprise my planting of trees around the plaza
•Wide open areas to put my caf? and 'neighborhoods'. Instead of lining all the animals houses up, I'm going to do a 4 and 6 neighborhood area for them to interact and live in.
•Maybe a business district? Depending on where town hall and Retail are located.
•Preferably the native fruit to be oranges or pears. I just won't have peaches AGAIN.
•Basically a map I feel where pathwork will line up nicely.

I dont care about the beach or which side the museum is in. I also don't NEED a south facing water fall, but it is nice.

I don't really have any attachments to this town. …

You answered your question right there.

Yes—do a re-set.

I mention this with having a good amount of experience.

I have at least ten towns.

At the following thread, https://www.belltreeforums.com/show...our-Town-Map&p=7789842&highlight=#post7789842 [Post #2927], I posted my maps. The one that is sixth down (the bell amount is “6”) has a nice layout. Problem is this: I don’t enjoy it. I made a mistake in isolating locations of the homes of the humans apart from the villagers’. It seemed cool when I planned it. But, it wasn’t enjoyable. It works for my second town, ACNLpics, because it is a museum-themed town (villagers’ pictures are in humans’ houses). But, actually playing that sixth town has not been satisfying.

After setting up a Dream Address, I cleared out all hybrids and transferred them to another town from this sixth town. I cleared out and transferred kitchen items as well. (I was getting going with secondary humans in later towns.) So, I have organized enough that I am ready to re-set that sixth town. I am just waiting to get myself in the mood for a new town. Reason is this: I found out Nook will buy it for 47-plus million bells. I don’t have too many Public Works Projects. But, at least I have the Lighthouse. (Good!) I held onto the town since late-2016. I created and built up other towns. When re-visiting this sixth town, it dawned on me a few months ago that I may re-set. It is the only town with its native fruit peaches. So, my requirement for its successor will be a town with peaches and a continuous beach. (I also insist on the beach being on the west side. It’s my preference.) I will get going when I am ready to do so.

By the way…

Dream Address, to that sixth town (which I will re-set), is: 4A00–0120–66C8. It is Love. Mayor is Betsy. It has a nice flow. (I plan towns that way.) But, it isn’t one I care to continue. You may check it out.

Wait, wait, ACNLpics, I think I went to that town cause it was featured in jvgs. Also Foster is a cute town name, like you're fostering animals :) Okay back on topic now.

I think I will go check out that 6th town. When I go dreaming I started looking at the towns layouts -if they weren't hacked- to get ideas for my next town. I used to keep all my villagers in one area, but I think with my next town I want to make neighborhoods, like have a small group there, have another group there.

Yes—ACNLpics is my town.

Jeff’s thread, which I didn't know about for several months afterward, is here: https://www.jvgs.net/newleafblog/2017/10/09/dreaming-of-acnlpics/ .

I have two Bell Tree Forums threads on ACNLpics. One was before the amiibo update (which I received November 2, 2016). The second was a post-amiibo update of ACNLpics.

Here are those links to ACNLpics (which includes pictures):

I also have threads on my first town, Applewin, and two from my third town, Foster (with pictures):

I also have another town. It is my eighth town (the one with “8” for its bells). It is called Scorpion. I named it after the CBS series (2014–2018). The cartridge [hard copy] went bad. So, I have discontinued it. It has a wonderful flow to the town. The north part is for humans’ houses and permanent buildings. The southern half is for villagers. I did set it up with a Dream Address: 4A00–0111–A153. (Town mayor is Walter.)
