So I made my island the same day the game came out, but I've been playing very seldom since then. I've literally played like four times since I got the game, and my two villagers, Shari and Teddy, have built their houses already, and I haven't. Also, by now, my character probably will have a bed-head. What I'm trying to ask is if I should just delete it so I can start fresh and play it everyday from now on.

When you reply please give my post a like so I can be notified when you reply (if that's still a thing in TBT 3.0)

If you like your island layout, fruit, airport color, etc. I would just keep your island. But like you said, you've only played a handful of times so if you chose to reset you won't lose much. What would be your main reason for resetting?

The choice is entirely yours. You aren't going to be penalised in-game for having a slow start, but if you want to reroll for different island features (or perhaps change your island/character name), you're certainly welcome to do so while you have an easy opportunity.

i don't really know what your reasons for wanting to reset are, but if the bedhead is that big of an issue for you, it's important to note that it works differently than it did in new leaf. your villager will have bedhead when they first leave the house but will then muss their hair up until it's back to the normal hairstyle. the bedhead hairstyle is then unlocked and you can activate it any time you like in a mirror, but you aren't stuck with it.

Another suggestion is to consider your resident serviced placement in relation to the airport, as that has been a lot of people's main reason for wanting to reset. People like their resident services away from the airport.

Why not have a fresh start! Keep in mind the placement of plaza or what not. I totally regret having my plaza so close to the airport. Start over so you get the motivation to search for the fruit and villagers you want on the island you can work with the most. Turn off and close the game if you don't like fruit or villagers. Hopefully the motivation comes back, it really is fun once you get in the groove. BTW the bed head goes away now unlike new leaf. Thank god lol

If you dont have many hours in I would go ahead and reset. I've seen many different islands that I think I would have preferred over my current one. Remember the most important things to consider are the placements of resident services and your beaches and river outlets. Most everything else you can change. I have more non native fruits and flowers by far than my native species. And I only have 1 of the villagers I started out with.

But I cant change where my beaches, water outlets or the location of resident services are.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

You know what? I just might do that tonight. Thanks to everyone who replied to my problem!

I don't think you should get into the habit of starting over everytime you didn't play for a while, but this is a good excuse to start over with a map you really enjoy. But I don't think you should do that if you really like your map, don't feel forced to play everyday and for hours on end.

It depends on what your reasons are for resetting.
If it's because you don't like your layout - I would reset now considering you haven't put in much time into the game.
I wouldn't really focus on the starting villagers much because the first 5 get the DIY interiors and unless you are okay with that, most players prefer to replace them down the line (or at least let them go and re-invite them) just so that they come with their original furniture.
If it's because you'd like to experience the first few days of the game as you feel kind of disconnected then the choice is ultimately yours anyway... it's just that the first few days can be a bit underwhelming (still a cool experience) but you might find yourself not having much to do.

Do you like your map? Do you like where the river mouths are and where your residential services building is? Those are things you can't change and I would hate for you to reset only to either get stuck on resetting or that you regret it and miss your old island.

I understand where you're coming from, since you feel you have put so little into the game and that it might be better off just to have a fresh start, but I also wouldn't want you to get in a habit of restarting every time you take a break...

What would give you the most fun out of the game? Picking up where you left off or starting over? Do whatever you need to do to have fun. :)
