Should I clear out my villagers for new ones?

I haven't been playing the game for nearly as long as everyone else, so I've yet to experience even half the roster of villagers in New Leaf. Every time I see an unfamiliar name pop up in my cycling town, I get so excited, and even moreso once I see their design. Then I start wanting them to move in so I can get to know them better.

It's not that I'm bored of the villagers I have now at all, I love them so much. But a part of me is worried that I'm missing out on something by having a town full of permanent dreamies. So I'm asking for some extra opinions; Should I clear out my villagers for new ones one day? I'm very conflicted since I'm quite attached to the ones I have now. It'd break my heart to part with Celia again, and my wolves x.x.

This wouldn't happen anytime soon though, probably at the end of this year.

I honestly feel the same way as you about not experiencing the full roster of villagers. A good suggestion (by the amazing user LinkToTheWorld) would be separating dreamies and favorite villagers. Dreamies as in, never letting them go (Celia and the wolves in your case) and a pool of favorite villagers that you could have for a while and then let go for another of that pool of favorites. There's many amazing villagers and narrowing them down to 10 is very hard sometimes.

Hope I helped! :)

What I'd do would be to have one villager slot to constantly move in and out, but I think Altarium's idea fits better. :)

That's always a tough choice. In one of my towns i was feeling the same way you are. I had 10 villagers that I loved, but kept thinking that there were other villagers that I might love even more. I thought about it a long time and realized that there were 2 or 3 in my town that I loved a bit less than the others, so I slowly let them move away. Now, I still have 7 of my original "dreamies" and 3 newer ones that I love a lot.

Ah, Altarium, that was very sweet of you :)
I was just about to comment but you have said it for me!

Personally, that's what I do and I find it works well. The 16 villager cycle doesn't take very long when you have a lot of other favourite villagers you want to experience. So if you do let somebody go and decide you want them back, you still have that option. That's what I did with both Erik and Skye. I got to experience a lot of great villagers in the time since they left and now I have them back :)
There's about 7 villagers now who I won't let leave, the other 3 will go at some point as there's still some villagers I would like to experience. It saves feeling like you're missing out :)

Thank you all so much for the advice, I truly appreciate it! I've decided I'll keep Celia, my wolves and MAYBE Mitzi or Truffles, and the rest will be free to move out whenever the time comes. Thank you again to everyone, I'm very excited to see what future villagers await me c:

Good luck!

If you love your dreamies that much then I say don't switch them out. You just have to think about how you will feel once their gone and that you would have to go through the 16 Villager cycle to get them back. So is letting your precious dreamies go really worth the 16 villager cycle/not having them in your town?
