Whilst I agree with this, it's still quite a good game. It's kind of like an updated version of wild world.. only on the Wii, which drags it down a lot.
I'd say if you haven't played it, buy a used copy so then you won't be spending too much money if you don't like it.

i never liked city folk. going to the city was time-consuming (i hated the bus ride, this is why i love new leaf so much. it takes less than two minutes to get to the shops).
not to mention the controls. i hated using the wii remote and the nunchuk to play. i never got into it. i dont even believe ive fully upgraded my house. i have loved every animal crossing game besides city folk. idk, i dont like how the controls are on the wii. its not very... comfortable / simple.
the gamecube and the handhelds are the best ones, imo. like yuki said, i would just rent it or buy a used copy so you dont have to dish out a bunch of cash for something you potentially will not like.
I was disappointed with city folk I was so excited to see the city and when I got there I was like, "what is this???" I mean come on! A city is supposed to be bigger than a town!
