debating whether to buy one with animal crossing? benefits and disadvantages please:)

I was thinking about buying myself a second 3DS as well.
Disadvantage: the cost D: obviously
Benefits: be able to trade between towns, streetpass, unlock special events whenever (weeding day)...

If you can afford it and really want a 2nd unit, I'd consider the 3DS XL. It's very nice and much easier on the eyes. It depends upon your age and eyes, but it helps mine. I'd also keep your original. Yep, trading between your towns is very nice and you'd always have a "back-up" if one of your units breaks or gets lost or stolen.

If you have siblings or others who may like to use your 3DS it's nice to have one that you don't worry quite as much over as you will have a newer one "just in case."

I have nephews and my older one got (and gets) dropped and abused like you wouldn't believe. So far it's fine, but I never let them touch my 3DS XL! Also, tho, all my ACNL games are physical so no town gets harmed or broken.

If money is a hardship for you, then reconsider just sticking with the one you have, or if the trade-in value is good, then go on and get a newer or upgraded version.

I prefer to keep my older one as it is in good condition (so far) and I feel more secure having one to play on to trade between towns and as the back-up in case a nephew accidentally does something to it.

why would i want to trade mine in?

I wouldn't, unless the cost is so prohibitive that the few bucks you may make is worth it. But it depends upon the value you'd get. All the shops my hubby and I have been to give you next to nothing, so it would not be worth it to trade it in at all.

?180 for a 3dsxl and a copy of animal crossing. i want to dupe and send villagers

Benefits: You have a second 3ds

Disadvantages: You just wasted a couple hundred dollars on a console you already have that doesn't do anything your current one can't

does anyone else have 2 3ds'

From my responses, I do. My husband bought me a 3DS XL for my b-day this year and I'm also using his old one as the original and the one I trade with another town in and lend to my nephews when they are over. For my age and eyes, the new one is wonderful! I'm now spoiled with the larger screen that is so much easier on my eyes. In that way, it does do something your original can't. But most people here are much younger than me and vision and eyestrain isn't an issue.

For you it may just be a matter of how your finances are and personal preference. :) Good luck deciding!

Second 3DS is totally useful if you need to trade villagers and items etc, but like said idk if it's actually worth it to waste hundreds for a game that you already have. I would buy a new one as well, but I personally don't feel like spending to much for it, since I already have one, but of course it's up to you :D

I have a 3DS XL but bought a 2DS when it was on offer cheap with new leaf. I would rather have two 3DS's if I had the choice but happy enough with one 2DS as I can still visit myself ect

Personally I don't see the point of having two 3DS'. Sure there are advantages such as trading with yourself, but is that really worth it in the long run? Will you still need the second 3DS when you get bored of ACNL? I wouldn't recommend it unless you have money to throw away - but that's just my opinion.

I have 2 3DS', but one is from the US and the other is from Japan, so I can use both for totally different things. If you have Pokemon XY, you can also use the second 3DS for that.

I have 2 3ds but one is my brothers. I dont use his because his is a small one, but having 2 is ok.

Id save money, even though you got one...

nyeh

If money is an issue, go with a 2ds!!! I know they look dumb and the concept is dumb but really love mine and play it probably just as much as I play my 3ds, haha.

I'd probably have 2 copies of ACNL if I didn't smash my old 3DS to pieces. I'd be able to have a cycling town and probably have a better and easier time at getting villagers I want in my main town. Oh well...

If you really want to buy a second one, go for it, but if you're only using it for the sake of having another town, I wouldn't say it's worth it.
