Transfer my bells, items and my dreamies from my old town to my new town? Or is that overkill?

I don't have money to spend on another 3DS but I was looking at the 2DS prices today and they were $110 CAD. Like is this something you would do? I've been contemplating whether I should go through with this or not for literally the past 3 weeks or so. I know it seems like a waste of money but omg... The things I do when I'm addicted to something.

If it is just for that I would try and find a used one so it is at least cheaper but the problem with those is that there might be a problem with it >_<
But I don't have issues like this much since I have an old that I transfered data onto my new one since it was breaking down and I also have the 2DS my brother has that he lets me borrow so I really can't help much sorry ;;

My boyfriend did the exact same thing a ultimately regrets it. It's useful for when you need it but he rarely uses it and it's essentially a $100+ paperweight.

I would say only get a 2nd DS if you can have someone, like a sibling, payhalf and let them use it. This way the 2DS will actually get some use when you don't need to transfer stuff.

also IMO 2DS's are better than any 3DS ;)

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. It's certainly pricey when you can just execute the transfer with a friend or via someone online willing to assist.
It may be more convenient, but what else would you use that 2DS for..?

As someone who has both a 3ds and a New 3ds, I'd say unless you are going to be using both, don't do it.

I use my Old 3ds when I want to experiment. I love figuring out how Nintendo consoles work, and I love dabbling in custom firmware. :>

I've thought about getting a 2ds ever since my old 3ds broke but I just don't think I could justify spending that amount :(
It would be massively helpful as I'd finally be able to reset my town...but then what else will I use it for? Do you have anybody else who could use it? Maybe they could pay partially towards it? I just think it will be a bit of a waste of your money :(

I have a 2DS, yes they are much cheaper than the 3DS but they in my opinion more fragile. With the 3DS at least you can close the lid thus protecting the screen. The 2DS doesn't have that option. Another thing I don't like about the 2DS is holding it because it's all one piece it's not as comfortable to hold.

I bought a 2ds so I could travel back and forth between my three towns. I dont play via the internet so it really has increased the fun in my game. I agree the 2ds is not as robust a build as my 3dsxl and not as comfortable to hold. The screen is also smaller and my eyes are used to the larger 3dsxl screen. But, for me it serves its purpose. It also came bundled with Mariocart 7...so that was a bonus. I used the included code to download it to my 3ds instead of the 2ds and had fun playing that. Spending the money is an issue, but aside from that included game AC is the only game I play so it was worth it for me.

I did the same thing with my 2DS - got a code in the box for Mariocart and loaded it on my 3DS.
But Unlike a lot of other people here I love playing on my 2DS. It's lightweight. The screen is the standard size; not an XL size granted but still you can see everything.

I use my 2DS to transfer between towns. I use my 2DS to do trades online. Look into refurbished models too - they might be even cheaper.

Well, I doubt I'd buy a new system for the sole purpose of transferring items and villagers. Granted, I have three 3DSes (a N3DS, original 3DS, and a 3DS XL), but that's because I'm a collector and I tend to use all of them.

There's plenty of people who will hold items and villagers for you, so maybe try that route BEFORE spending money that will most likely be a bit of a waste.

I've seen used ones that work, cosmetically they're beat up, but they're pretty cheap. That's an option, and one reason I tell people that they really should only get 1 town if they want to seriously play this, because 2 towns will be difficult to manage.

Why don't you go ahead a buy a refurbished one? I have a new 3ds and a refurbished 2ds that I bought directly from Nintendo! When I got it, it looked completely brand new. There is honestly no difference! It works great too. I'm paranoid about closing and opening my 3ds too often so the 2ds helps me out with that a lot! Just a suggestion though! :)

You could always transfer your stuff to someone's town from the forum, then to your new town. You'd avoid having to buy another DS, and as long as you've made a thread about it, you can hold that person responsible for not stealing from you.
