Okay so I've had my town, Seacrest, since the day New Leaf came out. I bought it with a friend and we promised that we wouldn't reset the game ever, because we had regretted resetting our Wild Worlds and Let's Go To The City accounts. So I have no intention of resetting but instead think that I should buy another game. I love my city but my neighbours suck and I don't want to cycle the town, the map is perfect except that I messed up my bridges big time (can't fix them, there is no millimetre of river that Isabelle deems acceptable between the cafe and my house, both of which I can't move) and I literally don't have and cannot build any on the left half of my town (my house is in far left of map) so that's a pain.

However I have loads of medals that I don't want to get rid of and overall the pros of the town outweigh the cons. But I would love in a way to have a fresh start, and I would reset the new game over and over until I had Dotty as a neighbour, my only dreamie. I would be able to fix the mess ups I made and ideally make a perfect town. There's also the museum to refill though and all of the buildings to obtain in Main Street. But is starting afresh worth that? I've invested nearly 300 hours in the game, should I toss that aside for a few bridges and Dotty and that amazing excitement of starting again. I want your opinions people :) Help me decide!

I restarted at the end of April and I am absolutely loving it! I had really good villagers before, loads of pwps, all shops unlocked, but I still did it anyway. I got somebody on here to hold two of each of my hybrids so I could breed some more and also some rare items I had hanging around.
I'm enjoying playing even more than ever now, so I'd say go for it! You can always get your medals back, but that's part of the fun! Anyway, if you'd have been happy with your town you probably would never have even considered restarting or getting a new game ;)

I feel you, like that's a whole load of heart you'd be deleting away, you know? You might as well get a new copy, then if you get Dotty and you have room for her in your old town, just transfer her :)

I got my game stolen and was forced to restart after having it since the release! But it became fun restarting. Designing a whole new town however I wanted, knowing if I made mistakes I could just delete them because I hadn't put in as much time and effort.

So definitely get a new game! But oh man do not delete your old one. I think it would just be heart breaking to lose all that work!

I had a similar dilemma, but in the end I decided that I'd probably never go back to my original town once I got a shiny new one with a better layout etc, and if I did it would be out of a sense of duty rather than playing for fun.
I bit the bullet and reset, and I'm so glad I did! The difference between resetting and abandoning a town is pretty slim, anyway.

You've put more work into your town than me though and given your promise with your friend I can see why you don't want to reset. So I'd say if you can genuinely see yourself playing and enjoying both towns, as long as you can happily afford a second game then go for it!

I have two copies of the game and I love it, I honestly consider getting more but I keep having to swat myself with the rational thinking rolled up newspaper. But I have two towns that are like night and day, and when I reset my old town that I had lost I loved finding a way better map taking more time, and doing my plot resetting and everything I didn't in my main town and I like my new town so much more being able to plan it out more than I had before. So I am definitely happy with buying a new town, I do still play on both every other day to maintain what I got going, and to maintain my relationships with my villagers.

I got a new cartridge last summer and it is worth it! I now have a second town where three of my dreamies showed up and I can design it however I want to. Its a blank canvas, a fresh start, and I loved designing it for a candy themed town c:

I said no, here's why. There are, heavy, rumours that AC is about to be announced for the WiiU.
If you don't have a WiiU yet that right there is a reason for picking one up. Side note: imagine a special edition themed AC WiiU!
Also Mario Kart 10 and Splatoon are worth having a WiiU for already.
I do have 2 3DS's's and have had a great time TTing and such but once AC WiiU comes out, Villagers in Bueno are on their own :p

I play new leaf so much. I have 5 copies because my son and sister in law gave me theirs. I played the heck out of them. Then Target was selling them for 15 dollars. I figured I would buy a couple more. I've been having fun playing those too. Most people wouldn't want that many towns, but I personally feel that the money was well spent. They've given me hours of entertainment.

Thanks guys for all the responses! Keep them coming though! Need all the opinions I can get :)

And to the 'No' voters, I'd love if you could leave a comment explaining your choice :) All views are welcome.

Well if you can afford (time-wise) to start all over again, just do it. Speaking from my own experience, if there's something I don't like and it is not possible to change it, it kinda "hurts" my gameplay I don't know how to put it in words but hopefully you get what I mean :P

Anyways, thats my point of view, if you can "live with it", just stay with the copy you have right now and deal with it.

I got a new copy of the game a couple weeks ago as a cycling town so that i could achieve all of my dreamies for free and then have a perfect town afterwards (and also start off the game with lots of bells from selling unwanted villagers!). I LOVE having another town, and the only thing that I've found bad about it is that it's more time consuming. Also, you have to be sure you get on both frequently to make sure that any villagers you don't want haven't moved away, and getting Gracie Grace again is a huge pain. Otherwise, I love my new town almost as much as I love my original one :)

Thank you guys for all of your opinions and responses. I really appreciate that :) I've done some thinking and I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to get another cartridge. Speaking from experience, I would definitely end up regretting resetting the game, so that isn't an option. Someone made the excellent point that I'll probably feel a 'sense of duty' to return to my old town to maintain it. At the end of the day though, getting a new cartridge and starting afresh will be fun. And that's what counts! :D

I restarted a couple months ago, and Im honestly glad that I did because I was starting to get frustrated with where I put my cafe and and police station. Another thing I didnt like about my old town was that no matter how much I plot reset they wouldnt go into the spots where I wanted them to. It was always in a bunch of trees or right next to my house. After having my new town for a couple months Im honestly glad that I did restart. In your case since you dont really want to restart your town, Id suggest your idea of getting a new cartridge. Having a fresh start is refreshing, and for me it makes me want to play the game even more because I am enjoying it instead of nitpicking the little details :)
