It's my little brother's birthday this Saturday (as well as mine), and my parents and I have been debating what would be the better console to get him out of the New 3DS and the New 3DS XL. For any of you who have those, would you recommend them? Plus we are also looking for games, and I've nominated ACNL (ofc) and Tomodachi Life :). Are there any others you can all think of? Thanks!

Of the two, I'd go for ACNL. I've never played Tomodachi Life, but from the reviews and videos I've seen of it, Tomodachi life doesn't have too much substance to it. NL has a lot more depth with customization and how interactive it is.

I'd probably be inclined to say New 3DS XL. I don't have a problem with the smaller 3DS screen, but a lot of people say that the larger screen makes some games easier to play.

As for other games- I'm not entirely certain. Is there a genre in particular that he enjoys?

Thanks yeah, I agree about the games :). That's useful about the screens though yeah, want him to be able to chill and play as much as possible :). And he likes action role play a lot, though he's quite smart so he'd probably be good at puzzle games too :).

Happy early birthday to you and your brother! :D

Normally I would recommend the normal 3DS, but I think you should get him a New 3DS for amiibos, since kids probably like those. I haven't played Todomachi Life, but I've heard that it gets stale after a while so I think you should get him something else, especially since ACNL is already a simulation game. I really liked Kirby and Pokemon when I was 7, so you could consider those. They're simple enough for kids to understand, and if he doesn't you can just show him.

oh, between the New 3DS or New 3DS XL, I would recommend the New 3DS because it's more portable and easier for a kid to hold

All right, then. Pokemon's an obvious choice for an RPG, but if he wants to branch out a bit, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team is supposed to be a fantastic game, so I could also suggest that. As for puzzle games... I've heard the Professor Layton games are supposed to be enjoyable, so you might want to look into them.

Get the new 3ds xl.
The new 3ds is a rip off, and once you buy like two cover plates you've basically spend enough money than if you were to just buy the xl in the first place.

And if you're unsure if a game just buy him an eshop voucher so he can buy any game he wants

For me I would get the normal size 3DS even though the 3DS XL has a bigger screen and better resolution. But the normal size 3DS is portable and you can take it every where you go unlike the other which is big.

As for the games I would get him animal crossing new leaf cause its very addicting and fun and also I would get him Skylanders Superchargers or if not I would get him Puzzle & Dragons + Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros.

Any Mario or Pokemon game! I loved those series as a kid!
