Do you think the stores are going to go back to being around the town like they were in games previous to NL or do you think there will be a separate shopping center island for all of them? Also, which do you prefer. I liked having a shopping center in NL and I thought it was nifty having them all there in a row. Less clutter in the town.

I really like Main Street in NL, and we can't really have that on an island, and I wouldn't want a lot of shops on my island anyway, so I hope they put them somewhere we can travel to somehow.

I still want a couple of shops on the island.
An outdoor restaurant (The Roost redone) or venue where K.K. could play.

I would also like Re-Tail to come back.

Both were really great, but I will admit, I miss the way the shops used to be in town. We really don't know how big the island will be, but if the shops are to be anywhere again, I'm sure the island will be big. Though main street was pretty great too being all organized and out of the way. ;)

I really prefer the Main Street format as that would allow you more space in your town to do whatever. The improvement I can see though is that the town is just bigger and the shops are at the edge of town thus removing a loading zone. The only downside to this I really see is style clash depending on if the shops have a set look you cannot change.

Hopefully they go back to having the shops in your town instead of how it was in ACNL. An extra part of space that isn't exactly my town and I can't mess with, yay...

I really don't see where they are going to put the shops. I don't.

The island is too small to have a strip of shops + the townhall + Reese + Museum + Post Office + Police office, etc.

And unlike New Leaf, there is no easy way out of the map (across the train tracks) to get to an outside area with different shops, and utility buildings : it's a deserted island.

I really don't.

Kinda hard to tell at the moment where the shops would be located, with the little information we have about the game or the town/island itself. While I would also like it to have them in the town, I guess the island will be not big enough for this. Could be that maybe the important ones, like Timmy and Tommy's as well as the Able Sisters (along with the museum and the town hall), are in the town and the rest is either located in a different version of the Main Street or you will have to travel to another island ? la City Folk. At least I would like it if this would be the case, having at least some shops in the town would be nice.

Do you think the city from City Folk could return?

Like something offshore?
That would be awesome!
Have the majority of the shops on another island, and keep the smaller shops on our own island.

Maybe. Like you'd have a rowboat closeby next to the pier ? Maybe you can't use it when the weather is too bad/windy ? But people don't want to wait 30 seconds to get to that shop district. It has to be quick just like it was crossing the rail lines in New Leaf. And I don't see how it can happen on a deserted island if you have to take a plane everytime. Maybe Nintendo will keep those shops secluded on an online secluded island server shared by many players? That would justify subscribing to Nintendo Switch Online service? But it would also cut out non-subscribing players from a part of the experience.

I certainly hope not.
If they did, I wouldn't play it.

No forced internet for me.

I have a feeling that parts of that Nintendo direct leak are real. I think the shops will be placed along the back of the island like in New Leaf. If you look at the map they?ve used or even just watched parts of gameplay they?ve showed, there?s a little entrance that looks like it leads to something similar to the train track entrance in NL. Nintendo has said that as you upgrade your house and pay off loans Tom Nook will invest that money back into the island. People don?t see this as plausible because they think the deserted island will be deserted forever. It?s a getaway package. You don?t just wash up on some shore. I do believe that shops will be unlocked and built along the back of the island in a separate section

When I saw the mini map in Nintendo's E3 Treehouse presentation, I also thought that's how it would work.

But then, the Nintendo Live ! pamphlet images seem to draw another picture. You see the character looking out to the sea from the northern-most tips of the island, where the shops area would be. And they are nowhere to be seen.

And maybe even here

So I really don't know anymore.

Weren't there pictures where the character was all the way up to the north part of the island and you could see a way up to a unknown area? Maybe that's where the shops will be located? Like some kind of city/Main Street area perhaps? Otherwise, till the release, they can change some things up so it could be that what we see on these pictures will not be the final layout (?).

I really like the idea of doing it like we did in City Folk. Having some of the smaller shops in town and the rest of them in a separate area. I will admit that i hated having the museum in town though. I just feel like its too much.

I wish that we'd be able to chose between having certain shops on the island or a main street type thing, for example I would want my post office on my island but have able sisters in Main Street. I feel that having a few more buildings adds a more cozy feel to the town, and it would also be more convenient, even though crossing the train tracks takes like two seconds in New leaf, It still feels less convenient, in my opinion at least (●?∀`●)

Having the ability to choose which building go in the town is kind of interesting. Like PWP buildings in NL where you can just build the coffee shop and the police station in town, only for all the buildings. That would be cool.

I like city folk so I hope that the shop will be on a another island ^^. We can see many others island in the trailer so I hope it is not for aesthetic purpose.
