Pokémon Shiny Pokémon discussion!

I just wanted to start a thread that is about shiny Pok?mon. Like the odds of finding one and how to increase them, or maybe which shinies you got? And did you get them legit?

Just things like that hahah! To start, these are my shinies (caught by myself, i did not make use of the masuda method just yet. I am planning to do it sometime but not anytime soon.):

- Marill
- Zorua
- Poochyena
- Taillow
- Ponyta
- Buneary
- Oddish
- Doduo
- Lillipup
- Sewaddle
- Aipom
- Ralts

I have several, but they were all acquired in trade. Never caught a wild one and probably never will.

I've encountered 4 in my years playing Pok?mon, excluding static red Gyarados. The first was a Fearow at the resort thing in Platinum, but I was too young to know what it was. The second was a Swinub that I lost in an unfortunate file corruption on my HeartGold. Third was a Drowzee that I lost in the same corruption. Fourth and most recent was a Poochyena in my Emerald. There may have been more that I can't remember, but those are the ones right off the top of my head.

I feel like such a failure compared to everyone else. The only shiny I ever caught in the wild was gulpin. I found him rather useless, so now its sitting in my pokebank.

Although I played FireRed when it first came out, then I didn't really pick up Pok?mon again until Black and White came out. Even when I played through black and white, I just wanted to finish the games. I didn't really pay much attention until XY came out.

I never could get shinies before X and Y tbh; I kinda gave up after I kept flunking (after MULTIPLE times, mind you,) the Pokeradar in Pearl and Platinum (I REALLY wanted a shiny eevee at the time; I can't tell you how many times I looked at a video for shiny hunting in hopes of getting lucky or something).

Once I hit X and Y though I got more lucky; first I got a shiny lvl 1 honedge from WT, which was amazing for me. Then I decided to go hunting myself (via horde) when I wanted a shiny mareep for Mega Shiny Ampharos. Soon enough, I got myself one! Then later on I got a shiny Foongus, Durant, (horde,) two Poliwhirls, a Basculin, (chain-fishing,) and a male Espurr (Friend Safari). I've found I really like finding shinies. UwU

Anyone know if the odds are better or the same in ORAS? >u>

Only shiny I've ever caught was Luvdisc. I accidentally defeated a shiny in Diamond(I think). This past Wednesday though I did WTW and got a level 100 shiny Ampharos, level 100 shiny Miltank, and a level 100 shiny Ho-oh with Pok?rus and it's HA.

Even though, I haven't had much luck finding shiny pok?mon on my own, I actually did get pok?rus on my own(which I read is rarer than a shiny, but I'm not sure), but by the time I realized it it was too late to pass on to my other pok?mon. I was kinda mad seeing as how I read it was Nurse Joy who told you because I never read what she says.

I remember my first shiny back in Pokemon Sapphire haha, It was a Shuppet! It was probably like my 9th time replaying the game and the first pokemon I encountered when I entered Route 121 was a shiny Shuppet and I thought my game glitched or something! Its pokedex number in the status screen was written in a gold font instead of the usual white and it had a star animation when it entered battle--that really worried me for some reason lol. I ended up deleting my file in fear of my cartridge corrupting and then promptly learned what I have done after telling my friends about my discovery a day later back in grade school. Did I regret it? Nah, that shade of blue wasn't really for me back then. Do I regret it now? Yeah, I really like that shade of blue now and I enjoy using pokemon from my GBA cartridges; it would have been nice being able to see that Shuppet mega evolve into Mega Banette in Generation VI.

First shiny I encountered was a Geodude at the route north of Mauville in Sapphire. Sadly, I didn't have any balls that time so I had to run. The first shiny I actually caught is a shiny Meditite when I was playing Diamond. I thought they had changed the Sprite in DP since that was the first Meditite I encountered. Next one was a Shiny Bunneary in Eterna Forest in Pearl. I chose the female character for that file and thought it would be great if she had a Bunneary. First one I encountered and it was Shiny. Good think I knew how to catch mons from double battle that time. The next one was a Graveller I caught in Mt. Silver while training in Heart Gold. I was pretty happy that it didn't use Explosion and that it's kind of a reclaimed shiny to the Geodude I lost. Next one I got was an Eevee through Masuda Breeding. I gave Masuda breeding a shot and after a few months break from when I started, I finally got it. After I got it, I started Masuda breeding Vulpix. Got it a week later. Then next was a shiny Growlithe in X when I was hunting for a Shiny Braixen in Friend Safari which appeared in less than 10 encounters. Next, I got a Shiny Axew while EV training. It screwed up my EV training, but it was worth a shiny. Next was a shiny Ditto I got from Friend Safari after countless Dittos I caught to trade for Dex Fillers. Next was a Shiny Klefki I got while breeding for a Competitive one. Next was a Shiny Vanillite from EV Training. Next was a Shiny Weepinbell I caught from EV Training. And finally, a Delibird when I was checking for what's in a friend Safari. Also got some from Chain Fishing and Dex Nav, but I won't count those as they alter the Shiny odds significantly.

TLDR;

I've only had three shinies. Two I hatched.

Espurr (using Masuda Method)
Squirtle (randomly.. Didn't realize he was a shiny and almost released him. First ever shiny.)

Caught:
Poliwag (using chain fishing method)

My first shiny outside of Gyarados was Marill, but it was in that safari park place in sinnoh and well he got away..so my first true wild shiny was a Raticate..I hate rats lol, but she looked really nice with the redish fur and then in gen 5 my only shiny was a Poochyena, which I should have kept as a pooch tbh.

X/Y and ORAS lets you get lots of shiny, but basically my list is Mime Jr, Geodude, 2 Audinos, 2 Girafarigs, Wingull, Rogenrolla, Ditto and Luvdisc..I gave most of these away lol. I hatched a shiny Stunfisk, Nosepass and Eevee which I made an Umbreon, because omg I love shiny Umbreon so much. Tron Fox is the best.

I'm super obsessed with shiny pokemon but have only found one. (So I guess not that obsessed, huh?)

The first shiny I received was just around 3 months ago. I went back to HeartGold and was SRing for a shiny starter. Lo and behold, a shiny Cyndaquil popped up on my screen! I was and am still very happy, but hope to find more in X,Y, or ORAS where the odds are a lot higher.

I have only once found a shiny on my own, which was a Lunatone in Alpha Sapphire. At the time though, I barely had any Pokeballs and ran out so I didn't get it (now I make sure to have a good stock of them all the time).
From trading, I have a shiny Bulbasaur, a shiny Mareep (soon to be Ampharos), and a shiny Dialga. From WT, I got a shiny Froakie, which is now a Greninja. And from the event when ORAS was released, I have a shiny Metagross. Right now I'm trying the Masuda method to get a shiny Ralts for my boyfriend.

I was also playing platinum the other day and found a shiny geodude, dropped my DS from excitement (it was my first ever encountered shiny pokemon from the wild) and the game froze.

Then there's also some event pokemon, metagross, Rayquaza, hydregion, golurk and magikarp come to mind, but probs more.

Then I have about 1-2 boxes filled with shinies I gained from spamming the friend safari in X for 200 hours, but I forget which ones they are coz there's too many.

I have a shiny Chesnaught and Slurpuff in x/y. I would kill for a shiny Victini though. Chandelure, Vaporeon, and Whimsicott look amazing shiny too.
