Pokémon Shiny Hunting

What is your favourite shiny hunting method? I'm still relatively new to the whole shiny hunting thing. I've tried the friend safari (gotten two from there ), and done the masuda+shiny charm breeding, (another two shinies from that method). I haven't really tried any other method. Never done chaining, or the new S.O.S. stuff in sun and moon.

Anyone had better luck with one from over others?

Masuda, because while it is a grind, I can tailor my shiny to have the right nature, ability, good IVs, etc.

In terms of excitement levels though, I like SOS and friend safaris. Absolutely loathe dexnaving and chain fishing is boring and you can only get water shinies from it.

I like to catch some of mine from horde battles, which you can activate using sweet scent.

A little known trick to greatly increase the odds of shinies is in Gen 2. Basically, shininess is calculated differently in Gen 2, meaning that if you breed a shiny with a non-shiny, you have very good odds of the offspring being shiny. If you have any of the Gen 2 games for virtual console, make sure either your red Gyarados or your lucky egg Pok?mon is male. Then with some knowledge on egg groups you can breed almost any Pok?mon from gens 1-2 to be shiny. Also, if transported to later games they will have their hidden ability.

oh yeah forgot horde hunting. Horde hunting is fun but you could get two shinies in the same horde and you also don't get to customize the shiny like with Masuda. Good method if you don't care about competitive shinies but otherwise...yeah I stick with Masuda

Egg hatching, gotten almost all my favourite pokemon with perfect IV shiny through that.
Now people think I generated them though lol.

Hordes are another great way too, got Mareep through that.
(And then I went to look for a Scyther, but found a shiny Ursaring, two shinies back to back lol, Mareep and then Ursaring right after).

I greatly prefer the Masuda Method over any other style of shiny hunting. The ability to guarantee the Nature and moves of the Pokemon, increase your chances of getting desired IVs and Abilities, and raise your Pokemon from their birth are all good things as far as I'm concerned.

I don't really enjoy any other methods very much, as they all seem suboptimal. Chain Fishing can be enjoyable and I have two shines to show for its effectiveness, but the selection is limited and if I was planning to use a shiny then I'd rather be able to create it to my specifications instead of relying on luck. Soft resetting is boring and I've only ever encountered one soft reset shiny, Kyurem, despite attempting other soft reset hunts (Lapras, Moltres, Mewtwo, Snorlax) that were ultimately wastes of time. Horde and random encounters are nice but I don't seek them out. SOS is tainted for me since they removed Super Training and expected people to use SOS for faster EV training, so I don't like it and obviously don't use it to hunt shinies. Never been big on DexNav and whatnot.

Egg hatching might take a while sometimes, but some hunts can be pretty fast and you can multitask (watch something, listen to music, etc.) to keep the boredom at bay. Masuda Method simply has too many advantages, and it has proven to work very well for me over the years.
