Wow, in all my time playing this game and having friends over I can honestly say I have never had this happen! I don't know if she is on this forum or another one I added friends from but I had this girl I play with over. She asked me to be best friends and we have visited each other a few times and talked and stuff. Well she needed me to open my Gates. I told her I was watching a movie so won't be good company but ok. She had Katie come over and after that she stayed for a bit.

Now before this I was scuba diving and emptied my pockets on my beach which I have done a dozen times. People come over and have enough respect to leave it alone. Except this time. She leaves without sayingay anything. My other friend, which I know personally comes over and I told her before, that once I got a gold shovel I will bury some money for her to have gold trees too so I pick up all my stuff and go to her place and low and behold, no gold shovel! I go back looking for it in my town and eventually ask the original girl that came if she had it and she said oh it must have been a mistakes, I'll bring it over.......mistake? Picking up a gold shovel that is not yours is a mistake? No u did it on purpose! That's not a mistake. It was in the middle of all my hybrids on my beach u picked it up knowing what u did!
Anyways I tell her I'm open and she said she will be over. Few minutes still nothing I tell her to bring it over I need it and she says I'm emptying my pockets. She finally comes over after a few more minutes and drops it off then proceeded to go back through my town looking around. What u wanna see what else u can take? I kicked her out and deleted her as a best friend and in a minute thinking about deleting her friend code.

I have never had anyone take my stuff like this before. Everyone has had respect enough to leave it alone but that's the last time I leave stuff out. Going to have to be extra careful from now on when I have people over.

And just in case anyone wants to know the name of the girl that did it just to make sure u watch her when and if she is over, it's Becky from catville.

its not just a shovel its a gold shovel, and someone stole it. thats the thing. someone came over knowing not to get things like that and did anyway. ok so it would be ok for me to ome over to your town and take all the hybrids, perfect fruit, any nets, axes, shovels, anything i want in your town without asking? might be ok with you but most of us, i believe, have rules against stealing things from us like that. it took me a long time to get that, asking on this forum and no one responding and finally got one yesterday i believe just to have it stole today? thats not right. u want one pay for it yourself. thats why its such a big deal. its something that wasnt hers and she took it anyways knowing she shouldnt. most people i know that play this game dont want u stealing their stuff like that.

I understand the frustration but gold shovels can easily be replaced. It still doesn’t justify her action of stealing, so I’m sorry that happened! You have to be careful and not lay valuables around when you have visitors. If I do not want something stolen, I either keep it in my inventory, put it in storage somewhere, or put it inside my house. If the item is really important, you would remember to keep it safe. I understand the frustration of having things stolen, but it can definitely be avoided. If you don’t want stuff stolen, don’t leave it out in the open. The truth is, some people can’t be trusted. You have to be very cautious when playing online with others, especially when the other person doesn’t have any WiFi ratings. Certain people may be up to no good, but don’t close yourself off completely. There are still good people out there. Just be extremely careful who you trust.

yeah she did leave at first with it without asking, but when i asked her about it she eventually brought it back.

and yeah i know i have to be careful. when i go scuba diving i lay my stuff on the beach so i can get a full pocket of stuff. people had come before when i have done this and dont mess with anything. but yeah from now on i will not lay things down like this anymore when people come over. just thought it would be safe.

yeah at least i got it back which im happy about but her stealing it like that makes me mad. she came earlier today and asked where i got it, i told her i got it from here yesterday. she knew it wasnt for anyone to take. just frustrates me since this has never happened to me before.

i always play super cautious and watch people when they visit, but i'd be absolutely irked that someone, who i had played with a few times, stole my stuff. at least she gave it back, but i would still be upset that someone sucks and jacked my stuff.

it's a good life lesson, but it's crummy that it happened for sure.

also, i prefer earning my stuff. if someone stole my golden shovel after i bought all of that fertilizer, even if i could buy one, it wouldn't feel the same. but that's just me.

she gave it back cause she was caught maybe? she wanted a gold shovel. she said before she wanted one so she could get bell trees but i was busy and couldnt offer to help. she just stole it so she could get bell trees. got caught and was already finished planting and gave it back cause i knew she took it.

how could it have possibly been an accident. you go down on the beach, see flowers and a gold shovel in the middle of them and dont remember pushing the button and seeing your character pick up something. go back home and see it in your inventory and dont know you got it from me? i just dont believe it. how could it have possibly been an accident?

if u want to borrow it, fine. ask me and as long as i trust you and know you will bring it back i will let u use it but taking it without permission? thats whats wrong,

i just dont understand how anyone could accidentally pick up an item like that from someone elses town and not know they did it. i mean even i u do,let them know when u find out, dont wait until i ask. she didnt even have time to look before she answered me which made me believe she already knew she had it. i mean i could be wrong but the way everything happened just made me believe she did it on purpose.

Even though the golden shovel is special to you, I'm guessing you're more upset that someone you felt you could trust betrayed that trust. To add some salt to the wound, the person then gave a barely plausible excuse and took their sweet time returning the shovel. It hurts to have your trust in someone broken - even if it's over something that might not seem like a big deal to others. I'm truly sorry this happened.

This story is exactly why I only add people from TBT now because the rating system here is excellent for validating if someone is a good person to play with or not. I and many others here have put countless hours in our towns so we have every reason to be cautious! I used to add people from Club Tortimer and met some great people along the way because of it, but going the TBT route is so much better (so many amazing people on here)!

I've been in the same situation so I understood what you were feeling. I let someone I thought was a friend come to my town. I went into ReTail to sell something and she asked if she could take one of my blue roses. I said sure, sold my item and met her at the train station. She said she had to leave, thank me for the rose and left. I walked over to see which blue rose she had taken and realized I was missing 4 blue roses. When I asked her about it she said she thought she had typed "4" instead of "1" and since I said it was okay she took 4. I asked if I could have 3 back and she said she'd sold them to Reese. I deleted her FC and have been more careful since then. I would like to think your person was going to return the shovel but...

I know this may sound like a silly question, but is there a reason why you have such a rule? From my experience, players talking to villagers can create some interesting conversations in future days playing and that villagers will not typically move away as long as you talk to them when they do an impromptu convo with you. I do agree however that the rating is not a 100% guarantee, but it definitely helps (I always try to research people before adding them, but sometimes you have to take a risk and be pleasantly surprised ).

Like alot of other people, I don't want my villagers talking about other people that I don't know, as they will continue to do this on a daily basis.

Some may find it endearing, but I find it highly annoying.
