Last night at 11PM I went to the island to catch some beetles and sharks, but half an hour in and I only had one beetle and one shark. I read somewhere that this was a good time to go.

Also, is it true that sharks are on the island 24/7? I vaguely remember catching one in December.
What do you think is the best time to catch expensive beetles and/or sharks on the island? (Or even outside of the island!)

Don't run just walk and you'll get more
Cut all the trees except palm trees
Also dig up the stumps, bushes and take put flower
It will be much easy catching bugs

As for shark
Scare the other fish and your goods

My island is glitched. I've done everything that everyone says about beetle hunting, and no beetles will spawn. I've spent three hours in one trip and caught four bugs. I'm walking, scaring off the wharf roaches and nothing spawns.

Did you do the hunt on evening? All the expensive bugs spawn on evening-night starting from 5pm if i'm not mistaken

I disagree with the part about cutting down the trees in the center. If I see Fruit Beetles, I'll chase them off, but believe me, you'll want those trees there if you're at all into hunting Oak Silk Moths or Rainbow Stags.

and iirc the scarab too.

what i usually do is walk back and forth on the beach, i hit the run button right by smaller and medium shadow fish so they'll disappear and something new will re-spawn. I go from one end to the other, keeping an eye on the oak trees in the background. once or twice on each circuit, i'll go up to the oak trees to scare off low value bugs to see what respawns. (altho the high value bugs are mostly on the palm trees) some nights it's slow going, while on other nights you can make a lot. you usually have to spend a solid hour there, maybe longer to bank a lot of high value fish and bugs.

I usually go just before 7pm so the grasshoppers go away for the expensive bugs. I have one to two trees in the middle for expensive night time bugs. The Giant Stag and scarab beetle starting showing up at 11pm to 8am.
I remove all flowers and store them in the box. Place them back on the island once I'm done bug hunting for the night.

Noticed that a lot of sharks were around at 4pm. I've only caught them for the museums, players golden rods and for the fish amount badge. At 4am to 6am there are a lot of rare bugs out. One extra town is set for 4am when it's 2pm in real time. A player is working on her bug amount caught badge and fills the basket with rare bugs in a short period of time.

there are definitely some good fish there in the daytime too-- iirc you can get the Napoleonfish, the whale shark, the ocean sunfish, the blue marlin, all during the daytime. plus some small ones have decent value, the knifejaw, and the snapper come to mind. and in the day sometimes you catch petaltail swallow flying around.
